ok. so i started out this season pretty solid. about the first 5 games my save percentage was around 60% or so. then the 6th game of the season, i had a bad game. i thought it was just a bad game, then i come out in practice and completely SUCK. i start stepping back, losing my positioning in goal, and getting overall really frustrated. I dont know what to do now, because me and my back up are splitting time. i think i really need to get back to basics. can anyone help or has had this situation....

Get an asst. coach, or a couple of guys together who you trust and like to work with for a shootaround after practice (or another time), and spend an hour working with them. Ask them to provide constructive criticism on your positioning, etc. Work up from easier shots to harder shots, have them do cross-crease feeds, etc. till you regain some confidence. I've found this to help me a lot.
Obviously you can also do some work on your own - i.e. "walk the line" drills, wall ball, etc.

are you sick? are you overworked? are you bogged down with homework? all these things have happened to me, you just need to take a day to rest and get caught up, either on a weekend, or ask your coach to give you an academic day so you can skip practice.

This same thing has happened to me. Are you still mad or disappointed with your self about your last game. Just take a breath before you step in that cage again. Practice some before a practice or a game. Get your muscle memory on how to move and how to react to the ball. It may be your not watching the ball its surprising you when it comes at you. Hope it helps.

dont worry about it. just put it aside and just get into the mental aspect that you are going to do your best every time and leave it behind you. it is one of the important things about goalie the ability to be mentally strong and to just put the bad things taht we have behind us and to just move on with life. i mean its one goal. just slowly work your way back up too. you can do it just set some goals for yourself.
Good Luck

get back to the basics like you said, practice your arc and take nice slow shots. Get your confidence up and youll be back to your old self. Im pretty sure this happens to every goalie at some point in the season. Just chill outtt
