I play defense but have picked up a few things over the years...
-Pull the ball towards your teammate
-If your tall and are against a smaller person, try pulling the ball straight up to get it when its high in the air
-Communicate where you think it will go to your team and get them to cluster there so that you have a better chance at getting it
There are some techniques but just do whatever works for you. Just press hard against the other person's stick and pull up and away I guess...again, I play D :) I'm sure there are some centers on here though...

make sure to bend your knees alot, most centers don't go down low enough. your legs are where you're gonna get your power from. if you're a righty, your right hand should go under the top part of the stick, and your left should be on top of the butt end of the stick. you should know who your strongest/tallest players are around the circle, and direct to the ball in that area. If the other center is stronger than you, and she's gaining control of where the ball is going, the best thing to do is to get 2/3 girls to stand where the ball is consistently going. When you either push or pull at the ball, make sure to watch the refs hand as she brings it down instead of waiting for the whistle, and then use your legs as power to lift up the ball to its whereabouts.
