After reading the thread on supplements protein powder was suggested. Since i had never taken anything like that before i found a review that said 100% whey protein was the biggest bang for the buck( i got the pro performance if it matters). It says to mix 1 scoop with 8 fl oz. If I only put half a cup of powder in and mix very well there is some extra junk that floats at the top( looks like i didnt put enough water in. Since i mixed very well and only used half a cup I am curious why it doesn't all mix. What i have been doing so far is just take a spoon and taking out the "junk" at the top and then drinking. Im sure this is a dumb question but i really appreciate your replies.

There are no such things as stupid questions, only stupid people, but you are not one of them; don't feel stupid about asking for help. I used to have the same problem, but I have gone through a lot of different things and I find the best way to mix a protein shake is to buy a nalgene bottle, they're about 16 dollars and will last longer than you do, plus they have the measurements on the side so it's easy to pour in 8oz, 200mL, whatever. They have wide mouths so it's easy to pour the mix in, and if you don't believe what I said about it lasting, ask my friend, I saw him run over his with his car, Napoleon Dynamite style. I just put the water and mix in the bottle, screw on the lid, and shake vigorously. If you don't have/don't want to buy one, you can use any water bottle, and it will work the same. Just make sure you shake the stuff instead of stirring it (protein shake?), that will take care of your mixing problems and should be easier.
If all that doesn't work, pick up some Syntrax Nectar, it's the best tasting you can get. I used to eat it straight out of the jar, it tasted like candy.

Use a whisk. Pour the water, put the protein on top and stick the whisk into it and spin the wisk by rolling it between your hands. It sounds retarded but it works.

I have 3 'shakers', they're made by tupperware or something, purple lids with grey flip thingies that open for you to drink out of. Put everything in there (use 2 scoops of protein, you need to create a surplus) and shake the **** out of it for a minute.

I used to pur it in a big plastic cup and jam a little one upside down in it and shake it for a make shift shaker. But realized the blender was better.
Still have to plug my nose and gulp it down. My shake recipie didn't work.

wister what flavor of nectar did you use? That stuff is cheap, and you make it sound like it tastes good. Did you get any results with it?

I used geen apple ecstasy, and it took a couple tries to get used to, just because it tasted so much like candy. Once I did though, I could eat it non-stop, it was addicting. Putting it in water, on the other hand, was a big mistake. It's too thick to be a juice drink, so it's kinda confusing tasting if you mix it. If you do get some, get it from discountanabolics.com, they have the cheapest prices, plus they have it in six different flavors, two more than they list at the syntrax website. If I were you I'd probably get Fruit punch, that one would probably taste alright in a drink form and still be good by itself. As for results, I'd say it worked just as well as any other protein I've tried.

Yeah, it was that good. The only problem I had was that it was really dry so I ended up chewing each bite for a while until my salivary glands produced enough spit for me to swallow, lol.
you can just gulp down and chew the extra stuff at the top if your too lazy to shake it and use a blender. dont throw it out though, its a part of the drink!

the protein powder is nasty to chew...........it gets all gummy and ****, but i found the best way to mix it is with a blender and milk....sometimes if i was getting sick of the old flavor i would throw in some extra stuff ice cream or chocolate syrup....
creatine is a good supplement too and there are many studies that show that it is benefitial to training, not just with weights but with running too

just as a quick question... lets say i have a big meal at about 3 pm and at 7pm im still kinda full. Would having a protein shake be good replacement of dinner( im thinking it would be the same thing as eating chicken). Since drinking is a lot less filling than eating it probably wouldn't give me a stomach ache.

you could do that, but the protein found in natural foods is a higher quality than what you'll find in a protein shake. Also, there's not nearly enough nutritional value in a shake to sustain a healthy diet.

can someone have too much protein in a day? Is it bad to drink too many shakes?

Well it improves you, and improves you, and improves you. However just like everything else, it will reach a point where it no longer works. Example.....20grams helped you a lot, so you go to 30, it works even better, then 40, 50, 60, so on. Then you reach 100grams, and its your maximum( you are not aware of this). You stop seeing these advancements like when you were stepping up before so you bump up to 110, nothing.....120, nothing.....and so on. However the grams I used are not exact at all jsut an example. The human body needs .5 grams of protein/lbs of body weight, when lifting you increase this to 1 or greater. Do some research and find out what works for you

I use 100% Whey protein and I put a cup of milk into an empty (and washed out) gatorade bottle, and funnel in the 1 scoop of powder into the drink and shake it really good. Then just drink it right after u shake it so it doesnt have time to settle and form chunks.
