NCAA 4-28 A.R. 125: Ball goes directly out of bounds directly behind the goal and either team calls a timeout, When, play resumes, the ball shall be put in play at the spot the ball went out of bounds.

From the NCAA/NFHS Rule Differences: In NFHS we re-start it outside the box; where does it say this in the NFHS Rule Book?

Also from the NCAA/NFHS Rule Differences list at: http://www.uslacrosse.org/mens_div/mdocnews_college.phtml
Ball Stuck in Crosse (Plunger); NCAA & NFHS both say the same; "Award ball to opponent"??

First paragraph of Fed. rule 4-25 covers this: "outside the goal area"
This language was included for the 2001 rulebook and explained in the Rule Changes for 2001 TO MEAN ALL RE-STARTS ARE OUTSIDE THE GOAL AREA.

plunger move discussed at Fed. rules presentation by Fed. Rules Chair Ron Belinko at us lax convention in Jan. 2004: plunger would be adjudicated as per ncaa rules

it is not in the rulebook

Does that include a pass or shot out of bounds on the endline, or a player stepping out on the endlien with possession? I'd be inclined to start them on the endline inside the box as in NCAA.

The "they announced this but never put it in the rulebook" seems to be a consistent but annoying trend.

Agreed. But with a lack of a national rules interpreter for Fed. who answers questions mid-season, it's the best we, as local rules interpreters, can do...we ask questions when we can.

Well, i hate to be a broken record on the subject, but why couldn't the MDOC and the NFHS explore the possibility of a National Rules Interpreter? Tim Cullen and Bob Schweitzer are on the NFHS committee...two very capable officials...i WILL try to be at the NFHS session at the Convention...

Well, and what I've suggested is for them to have an official question-and-answer webiste, possibly as part of the USLacrosse website. I mean, really, does it make sense for every person who has the same question to have to try to run it up the chain of command to get an answer (and to have the rules interpreters answering that question repeatedly). Of course not.

When someone has a question, answer it once and post the answer for all to see. That way people who want to know what the current interpretations are have a place to look, and the people doing the interpreting don't get pestered repeatedly with the same questions.

You are correct. I was responding to the endline TO scenario where NCAA re-starts on endline. Fed. restarts outside box...and that is NOT well written in the NFHS rulebook.
