Do you think it is more beneficial to run a longer distance with no hills or a shorter distance with many large hills?

2 miles at the most. But don't jog them. Run those two miles as fast as you can. Time yourself too. If you can do two miles in 13 minutes, your on the right track. Long distance sapps your speed.

shorter distances..but you should try switching up with interval runs..and find a field and run suicides which will do a better job of mimicing the running during games

do both, 1 day short sprints, another day long distance.

a combination of the two is very helpful.
being able to run in short spurts will help alot for cutting and beating you defender, while running for distance will help with the endurance aspect of the game.
i say, come up with a running schedule. first run 2 or 3 miles, then head to a field to do some sprints. or if you feel necessary, divide the work amongst a few days(i.e sprint one day, endurance the next...)
Find a track at your local HS and sprint the straightways and jog the turns.
Or find someplace that you can sprint for 20 seconds then jog for 40 seconds then repeat.

if you have hills, do hill sprints. sprint up the hill and walk down.

Weeks 1-2
- 30 min run
Week 3-8
- 5 min run
- 5 x 100yard sprints resting for about 45 seconds in between sprints
- 10 x 50yard sprints resting for about 30 seconds in between sprints
- 10 x 20yard sprints resting for about 20 seconds in between sprints
Week 8-11
- 30 min run
I forget who put it up, but that was a conditioning workout I found on here a hile ago. As you can see, it incorporates both long distance runs and short sprints. Another way to run is to do something where you jog for 4 minutes, then all out sprint for 1 minute. Do that for half an hour, or however long you want, and it'll work both your long distance conditioning and bursts of speed necessary in lacrosse.

This is a perfect way to get in shape (coming straight from both my knee surgeon and physical therapist). It's known as Fartlek training. It "confuses" your body and results in burning more calories as well.

but really dude, the best way to get in shape for lax is just constantly playing and that should build your stamina and skills up...just do agility workouts to get your speed up
