my thoughts: bad. but I'm no doctor or strength trainer. Your body produces it naturally, so using it can cause dependency on the supplement. plus it can severely dehydrate you. There are better, safer, more proven ways to get stronger, in a healthier, more fit way.

Wow you guys make it sound like it's a steroid. You wouldn't need to worry about dehydrating as long as you're drinking lots of water. As an athlete this should be no problem because you're suppose to be drinking water anyway. I take creatine, and I love it. I take it pre and post workout. It helps me bang out more reps when I lift and stops my muscles from getting sore in the morning. I personally have not gotten any side-effects from creatine, and that's coming from someone who doesn't cycle it. If you're responsible enough to hydrate your body (which you should be doing regardless) I say you go for it, if not then just stick to protein or something like that. If you're worried about getting dehydrated, check if you're dehydrated. The easiest way to tell if you're hydrated is by looking at your urine (sounds nasty, but it's the easiest way.) The darker it is, more dehydrated you are, and the clearer it is, the more hydrated you are.

just curious dta, have you seen a lot of improvement since using it. i've never been able to get a straight answer from anyone who uses it.

My thoughts are that everyone has an opinion about it when 90% of people know nothing about it. Also that 99% of people who have a negative opinion on it have never tried it and have never researched it aside from listening to another person's opinion, and only once in my memory was the person cited actually a doctor. Frankly though, cell biologists and nutritionists would have more authority on that topic.a supplement of protien found in muscle tisue, helps build muscleCheck the link in my signature for a slightly more appropriate definition, with links to UNsponsored studies.my thoughts: bad. but I'm no doctor or strength trainer. Your body produces it naturally, so using it can cause dependency on the supplement. plus it can severely dehydrate you. There are better, safer, more proven ways to get stronger, in a healthier, more fit way. There is no proven correlation between creatine use and dependency, nor is there any suspicion by even the parties who oppose it. Besides, your body does not naturally produce heroin, yet people are addicted to it.just curious dta, have you seen a lot of improvement since using it. i've never been able to get a straight answer from anyone who uses it.Yes, yes, and more yes. Specifically less fatigue and more reps. Most of the intended benefits are qualitative and that's probably why you never get a straight answer, because it's hard to explain to someone what you feel in your own body.

not to argue, because you seem to have done more research than me, I've heard that an athlete only receives about a 5% increase from using creatine (http://www.uil.utexas.edu/athletics/health/drug_manual.html). I'm not completely dead set against it, as you said, it is a personal decision, but for me I'll take my chances with old school whey.

There's no reason whatsoever to not take creatine. It's synthesized from 3 amino acids, thus, if you don't want to take creatine, don't eat chicken/eggs/etc.
I know this isn't a science forum, but this is one of the lesser known, yet most potent ways creatine can help build muscle.

You don't want 15 year old kids telling you what and what not to take.
By the way you are typing I would say you are 15 or under,I say no you do not need it. Best way to go is a natural protein supplement for after work out shakes when you are a little older.
A good way to go about your supplements is to do all the research you can on the the product before buying it, it will save you a lot of money and headaches.
