alright, so i am at this summer camp. It is a camp for high schoolers, and some older guys. when i say older i mean college kids. but what surprised me was this massive 250 lb, 6 foot tall, solid muscle upper body attackmen. oh yeah, he also played for the Barrage when they were in Bridgeport. Stick checking him is useless because his arms dont move. His only move is bulldodge and score a junk goal, ugly but effective. i'm 6'4 220, and i have never not been able to stop a bull dodge. I never had to put in much thought other than stand still and lean forward. but this guy is just so big and strong, i almost got put on my butt a couple times. he hasnt played for a few years, so he's out of his prime, but he's still good. he also has a brother who plays for San Fransisco, and he gets all this sick free equipment (hes got a fresh helmet, sweet exo 2's, k18 arm guards, no shoulder pads, and a really crappy stick (a.k.a. "old reliable")
so i guess the main question is "how do you stop a massive ex-MLL player bull dodge?

hmm... this is a tough one, ur prob just gonna have to just play him so he cant get the ball. thatll make it easier on you and he wont get any action.

you need to get your teammates to help...call for early slides and get him to pass the ball.

Let up on the more physical defense and instead work him more with stick checks.
Mix up your checks a bit, keep him off guard on what you will do next, and also mix in a bit of the physical part, from what you say you are a pretty big guy too so work him physically too, try to catch him off guard.
Make sure to work his off hand hard.
Working harder against him off ball to make sure he cant get a good possession will work too, always getting your stick up on him to knock down passes and such.
you need to get your teammates to help...call for early slides and get him to pass the ball.
Cbury makes a great point, get your teammates more involved, early slides and double teams will make him pass the ball more and be less effective.
Keep pestering him so that he passes the ball off more than he carries it and you will do well against him.
Oh and FWHS what camp are you at? I have never heard of any lacrosse camps for non high schoolers.

Drop stepping will help a lot. When he comes at you for the bull dodge, instead of standing still and taking it, take a step backwards so he's braced for an impact that'll actually come later than he expected. This should take away a lot of his momentum, and give you a bit of time to react.
Another approach is to lock him off as an available pass when the ball gets near. If his team are a little apprehensive about passing the ball to him then they will only really give him safe passes or bad ones. Both of which work out better for you because he won't really be able to do much with them.

I deal with this all the time. I'm not a big guy and play mostly box around philly and have had the pleasure of guarding some guys from the NLL at times bigger and faster than myself...so what I would do is shade hard to one side taking away where he wants to go/or where your help is. From there throw some big pokes/slaps until he gets close then you ride him our of position or into your help. Finally if you are stuck guarding him and he is out of shape press out on him when the ball is close making him work for it...someone said that earlier....but that will depend what kind of D your team is playing and you might not want to be out of help position.
Thats my $.02

You understand that you are not going to be able to stop him. If you could stop him, you would be in the MLL with him. If the guy played in the MLL, overplaying his strong hand will most likely hurt you. He probably has two strong hands and will be able to score on you with either. You're just going to have to double team him.

Stay low. Very low. Drive him out and put your hands on his hips when you push.

Well I played JV this year for my first year on defense (i switched over the winter) and in some of our practice scrimages, I would defend the assistant coach of varsity, who's a solid guy with amazing stick skills (like crazy good). I would actually do a really good job of defending him in the games, and in one of them I switched over to just one of the varsity attackmen, and one of the better ones at that, and it was like defending a five year old. Basically the best way to defend someone bigger than you is to out-stick-skill them, and make them think about everything they do.
