long runs AND short sprints you have to be endured and quick. long distance will sap your quickness. For long runs I go 2-3 miles jog for 4 minutes, sprint 1 minute until I'm done. I am a strong believer in the 440's. if you need an explanation I will if you don't know how to do them. And jumprope. I don't know if there is something wrong or not but my right knee can't take running 3 miles over and over again.

Yea, just don't go on long runs, you have to prepare your body to run in short burst as well as running long distances. As for a 440 I'm not sure what it is. One way you can train yourself for running in game situations is that you run out a distance not full speed then sprint the last couple meters. That style of training is the best way to train for lacrosse because in a game situation usually you just don't start a sprint then finish usually your already running then accelerate.

we run 440s as 440 yards, or about 400 meters.

I don't think that's necessary since its only a few ounces of weight. and the starred out word could have just been replaced with "gear" or "stuff." No need to pollute the forums

a lacrosse field is 110 yards long. so start at one endline and SPRINT to the other 110, then back 220, to the other side line 330, then back to where you started 440. Syracuse does 4 sets of them and each one is timed at 60 seconds, 64, 70, 74 seconds. not one endline to the other is 60 seconds like one set of 4 times across the field in 60 seconds. In between each one you take a 2 minute break. So if you do what Syracuse does your doing 16 times across the whole lacrosse field in like 4.5 minutes

Ughh, I hate 440's, even though they are really good for you. My team had to do 6 in one practice, along with 8 220's, 10 110's, 12 15's, and 45 minutes of lifting. Not something you want to do.

play basketball. perfect for getting in shape. you do almost everything the same like sprints, develop quickness, sliding your feet on D, and playin team D. it also gets you in great shape before the season starts. but if your not in tune with the basketball gods then id do what these 'others' say.

practice as hard as you can during practice when you have your gear on, go on at least one long run a day, go through many sprints ranging from 25 meters to 100, I am also a big fan of the 440 drill, eat healthy, hit the weights, empty the tank on everything you do

they help with endurance so much but yeah they are a pain. but it's worth it when your in a game and you can run all day long
