k im trying to design my tat and i have the idea i wanna do it in photoshop, i can edit things and stuff but photoshop is sorta hard since i never took a class in hs on it. anyways i can use the shape creator to make the outline (its like a badge shape) and i wanna color the italian flag in it... so i need to make 3 vertical bars in it but i have no idea how to do this...if anyone can give me some help that be great thanks

use the rectangle tool (underneath the text tool) and create 3 rectangles of your choosing. make the super shape larger than your circle and erase the edges of the rectangles till they get to the edges of the circls

that makes sense but when i try to erase it, PS says the shape is not directly editable...if that makes ne sense

well it depends on what you did
are you editing something that you opened, or are you opening up a brand new file?
if the former then you should duplicate that layer and erase the old one, that should make it editable.

If you have Illustrator it is easier to create things, because they are vectors and are easier to manage then photoshop...although photo shop is quite good as well.

what i would do is draw the 3 stripes, then select the area you want to have as the tattoo, then invert the selection and delete then delete it. I think that may just be what nrvlc was getting at, but either way I hope that helps.

click "Window" (i think, i had PS 4.0) and click "Show Layers" make sure you are editing the right layer.

yeh im editing the right layer its no big deal i was just messing around w/ it last night cause iw as bored thanks for all the help though guys especially you BCHS
