Watch the elbows when a guy's in close and looking to shoot.
They can really help you tell when the shooter's faking or when he's actually going to shoot. Try this during practice.
Other than that, attack the low shots. I score often on younger goalies with a bouncer that hits the front of the crease....goalie goes down in reaction to a low shot, ball bounces over his shoulder. If you're going down, you have to slide to the front of the crease so these hit your body, not bounce over it.
As for older goalies - best way to beat most of them is just picking a low corner, don't waste time with fakes they don't move so much and they don't bite at fakes, they just play the angle and hope for the best!

okay.....
1) Always keep your stick touching the ground and use a woodie, i freggin hate goalies with woods as a shooter. don't lift or move it, cuz chances are that is what I want.
2) Square up and take about 1 yard away from the cross bar step max, any more and it gets easy to beat you high.
3) Always hug your posts on the sides.
4) when setting up always tap your stick on the uprights and put your hand on the other, take your step, otherwise you may be totally off center in your net.. Kinda like a patrick roy routine.
5) Do not drop and flop, look at how bad watson was during that rock game...
Stay on your feet and just be as big as you can be...make the shooter shot, don't move or fall for the fakes...get used to moving when the ball comes at you, not with the stick moves. At first it seems hard with rapid shots, but then you get all matrix mode and the shots seem slower...It is all about practice....

alwyas be moving to the ball never step away
try to catch as mmany low shots as possible so u can start a fast break
always back up your stick (example:when catching a low shot get your leg be hind your stick for support)
NEVER DUCK on high shots(you do have a mask on and it dosent hurt....very much)
if the shoter is on a brak away and starts throwing fakes drop your non stick hand/shoulder to make him think his fooled you but then take that area away as fast as possible
when your ball carrier goes behind the net and an apposing player is chsing set a pick and force the player to run into you but when setting the pick or going for loose balls out side the crease keep one foot in so they cant touch you

When playing angles, make sure that you are one step (2.5 to 3 feet) away from the goal line. I feel that in this position, you are out far enough to cover the net and close enough to the net to recover to one side or the other on cross-crease passes.
