I've been watching the World U19s Game in Canada and I've been amazed by the stick skills of the Iroquois Nationals & Canada.
They are mainly one handed lots of lefties and play most of time with two hands on their stick, but that doesn't stop them handling in traffic, dodging or throwing multiple big fakes where the defender runs off.
It's a completely different style of stick handling.
So where are the Tutorials on how to play like this?
Where are the DVDs by Gewas Schindler or John Grant Jr showing you how to play like a Native or play like a Canadian?
I follow Div 1 Lax and the stick sklls and finishing is a far higher standard on these U19 Teams than top ten NCAA sides. A lot of NCAA is very Vanilla in shooting style, these guys are any shot from anywhere and 1-on-1 inside are money in the bank.
So where do I learn to finish like a Canadian?

Just so you know box lacrosse heads are extremely pinched so the ball stays in a lot more
AHS Laxer is right play some box. Playing in small areas helps develop dodging and stick skill much like indoor soccer and futsal help develop a soccer players dribbling and ball control

True, but I mean, they must be using legal heads for this U19 world championship.... or are they? :runaway:

Ah good call this is all I could find on the ILF page.
15.2 The head of the crosse shall measure between 4 inches (10.16 centimetres) and 10 inches (25.4 centimetres) inside measurement at its widest point.
RULE 16 PROHIBITIONS RELATING TO THE CROSSE
16.1 No player shall use a crosse in which the pocket has been permitted to sag to such a depth that the top surface of a lacrosse ball placed therein is below the bottom edge of the sidewalls when the crosse is held horizontal to the ground with the net to the bottom of the crosse.

We play box in the summer specifically to work on pick and rolls, soft hands, quick sticks, off ball O & D, crease passing, stick protection, pin point shooting & passing and a few other key elements that transfer well to field. Oh yeah - it's a lot of fun too . . .
It's no coincidence that the Canadian National team that beat USA last year all came from box. Still it's a hard sell to some of the field coaches - "bad habits" like cross checking they say. I say it make you tougher.
They will come along . . .
