The Steelers don't have a thing on the Patriots and you know it. The Steelers couldn't hold the 5th highest scoring NFL team in HISTORY to only 3 pts. The Steelers couldn't shut down the league MVP 7 times in a row. You know that.
oh man you definately got me going now
"The Steelers don't have a thing on the Patriots and you know it."
I know this, the Steelers beat the red-hot Patriots and crushed their 22 game winning streak. I also know Miami beat them on their first game w/ an interim coach.
"The Steelers couldn't hold hte 5th highest scoring NFL team in HISTORY to only 3 pts."
I know this, the Steelers beat a team that had won 2 of the last three superbowls. They also beat two undefeated teams back-to-back.
"The Steelers couldn't shut down the league MVP 7 times in a row. You know that"
I know this, the Steelers shut the two time Super Bowl MVP in week 8, heck so did the Miami Dolphins. I also know that the Steelers have whats called the #1 defense in the league.

Enough of this crap. Nobody can be certain on who is going to win. Both teams are good. Anybody with half a brain knows that. Most of what you said also holds no water. This is the playoffs. Anything can and does happen. Simply saying that the have beat the pats once already means NOTHING. You pointed out that the dolphins beat the Pats, woopdiddoo. It means nothing. What does matter is what happens during the game, not what has already happened. Will the Patriots win, maybe. WIll the Steelers win, maybe.
What the hell are you so mad about? I'm just trying to defend my team cause it seems like the Patriots are allready headed to the superbowl after they beat the Colts.

im gonna go with the pats, look at how the jets defense confused big ben.... the pats have in my opinion one of the best coachs of all time who confused payton manning who is alot better than big ben. if the steelers play as bad as they did against the jets make no mistake about it they will lose, if they play up to their potential it will be a good game b/c u know the pats always bring it

Children, Children, Children...
I've been known to debate with nvrlc over football many times, but this is getting out of hand...
I don't think nvrlc was out of line by arguing back about the Steelers. A lot of us Pats fans have been getting out of hand and carrying that whole "Patriot Pride" with us. However, we have learned this year that the pats are beatable. Yes, its the playoffs, but lets not get naive here and think this is a COMPLETELY new game. Football is football.
Now: to analyze the main points:
Steelers beat the Pats this year-Yes, but Belichick never loses to teams twice in a season and neither has Brady. Brady hasn't done it in his 69 games of football.
The Steelers Couldn't Hold Indy to 3 Points-I think they could. Their defense is so aggressive and is so great at forcing turnovers. Add in Pittsburgh's run game then they eat down a lot of the clock
The Steelers Couldn't beat the MVP 7 Times in a Row-Heh, i liked nvrlc's response to that.
Big Ben is shaky-Yes, but you gotta look at what he did in overtime. That was John Elway-drive'esque (an exaggeration, but still pretty good).
The Pats Secondary is ripe for the picking-I'd still say this is true, but Indy showed that the Pats can hold their own.
Pittsburgh shouldnt have been here-Yeah. But as a 15-1 team who beat the two superbowl favorites, they showed they can play during the season. It's not like the Pats haven't got lucky in the last 4 years.
So its really a push.
All in all, Pittsburgh is a lot like the past Patriots. A hot shot newbie QB whos been able to hold his own, a notoriously strong defense that especially stepped up this year, and honestly, not enough respect. But that isn't a bad thing. Pats lived off no respect for almost two years, and they had a taste of it last week.
Now look, I managed to say what cmm343ebh said without screaming and being all pissy. Cmon, an exeter kid? you gotta be more classy then that.

Let me dispell this "confused Ben" thing we have going here
one interception was an overthrow that got deflected by Plexico and landed in the DBs hands and the other was an underthrow thta woulda been a TD cuase the safety wasn't watching Randle El go deep and he got lucky cause he was in the right spot at the right time
If you saw Ben at pregame warmups his thumb was HUGE, and i'm sure it was swollen enough to make his throws off.

What are the predictions?
nrvlc??
Pats will contain the bus and staley to about 100 together and force big ben to throw into the genius' zone coverage and let his receives get laid out by harrison wilson and samuel
i heard from chris hoke on the radio that the steelers are gonna force brady to throw which is stupid cuz brady is good an their secondary its
polamalu is a run stopper but not much of a cover man and townshed is their best corner which isnt a good thing considering they dont romeo crennel and bill belichick
but dillon will get 90-100 hard yards, break one for 20 or so so hell have about 70-90 yards and average 4 a carry without the big run
big ben with throw for 120 on 13/25 a 5 yd td pass and 2 ints
brady will have 17/27 for 290 and 2 tds
they steelers would win if they had a veteran qb whos not tommy maddox who could play and use their sick wideouts but bill is too smart for a rookie to do that
pats 20-13
ok, I'm hoping I interpret you post correctly but here I go.
1. Bus or Staley will get 100+ yards EACH, both of them combined should equal 150+ yards
2. Ben can throw, but the run wont be stopped so much that he'll HAVE to throw. Name one team this year that has been able to stop our run. Plus, who's afraid of the NE safties? Definately not Hines Ward, I dare anybody to question Ward's toughness.
3. Brady being forced to throw is good for the Steelers, see week 8. Polamalu is our best cover guy (Deshea is a close second), he's a good run stopper but he leads the team in interceptions. Farrior is a good coverage LB too. Brady couldn't throw when he was forced to on Oct. 31st and tomorrow shouldn't be any different
4. Dillon will get maybe <90 yards tomorrow.
5. Ben has the 2nd highest passing efficiency in the NFL and his QB rating is 4th or 5th in the NFL (98). I'm sure he has a rating better than Favre, Dante, etc. Of the remaining QBs in the playoffs, Ben has the better numbers (better than McNabb and Brady)
6. Romeo and Charlie are distracted by their new Head Coaching positions right now (evne a little distraction is good).
7. Steelers are Home Underdogs, which puts them in a perfect position to win because everybody was talking about Green Bay over Minnesota, Seattle over Seahawks, Chargers over Jets, Indy over Patriots, Steelers over Jets, etc. and they've ALL been proven wrong. (People belived Steelers would kill the Jets when infact they shouldn't have won the game).
8. I dont care if Dillon didn't play, I honestly dont. We've held Clinton Portis, Tiki Barber, Jamal Lewis, Fred Taylor, etc. under 100 yards and we've held the rushing leader for the season (Curtis Martin) under 100 yards TWICE this season so I'm not afraid of Dillon (whom we've shut down when he was w/ the Bengals). We only allowed ONE rusher to gain 100+ yards against us this year.

None of that means much of anything. Baltimore beat Miami 30-23 after having gotten spanked by New England 24-3. Meanwhile the Patriots are 7-0 with Brady and Belichick in the playoffs. How about that stat? How about the fact that none of these stats really means anything, all that matters is how they play tomorrow, during crunch time, when it matters?

That's the wisest thing I've heard in a while. Like Dan said, all that matters is what happens on the field. And yes it is a shame it's not in Foxboro, but obviously Pittsburgh is far from a dome team. It's just the atmosphere of being in a small town with a nice stadium in the middle of it with the snow coming down is what it's all about. GOod luck to both teams, but go pats!

Everyone seems to think this is gonna be a close game, I disagree. 27-7 Pats is my prediction, Go Pats.
I have a ton of respect for the rookie in all of this. I'm a die hard Pats fan, but when Miami (OH) started popping up on 25 lists last year, I was thinking about how awesome Big Ben was. What a studmaster. But you ask me who is the better looking quarterback? Well, just about any woman will tell you that Brady is the more handsome man. The future looks good for both teams, and I'll be rooting for the Patriots in the SB against the Eagles so good luck to Bellechick . Should be interesting to see if he can do it now w/o his coordinators.
Well thats the game of football folks, the season means nothing if you can't win when it counts. this 15-1 record by the Steelers will be forgotten in the annals of the NFL history book.

Actually let me say some more now that I'm thinking a little more clearly
this season WASN'T a disspointment. We went 6-10 last year and drafted a rookie QB that was supposed to sit the whole season. We lost some key players early for the whole season. Seeing a rookie take a downtrodden team so far really says a lot for the future of this team. When we get that whiny b|tch Burress off this team I really think we can make a run again next year. But once again, any run to the Super Bowl will have to go through the Patriots.
there is no doubt that the Patriots are a dynasty. Still not as good as the Steelers of the 70's, the Cowboys of the 90's nor the 49rs of the 80's but they are indeed a dynasty and they should have no problem against the Eagles. As much as I want to hate them as a team, I know they play the same style football as the Steelers and I respect their ability to do that.

He seems that way but he's really not. This guy does nothing but complain and he's not what Steeler football is about. Hines Ward and Randle El will go the extra mile to grab a pass, Burress is convinced that he's got such good size that the ball will come to him and no defender can stop him.
WRs are a dime a dozen, we dont need that pansy on our team. In a way he is a Randy Moss... he complains and gives up, thats all we see out of him when it matters.
