Anyone else in Boy Scouts? It rocks hard. And when I say it rocks hard, I mean it REALLY rocks hard. I mean, there's camping trips, scout camp, monthly outing to places such as the bowling alley and mini-golf and the bomb squad at the airport. Totally sweet.

You're a girl, right? And you don't know what your underwear is called? Right?

If you don't know what they're called, I can tell you. They're called panties. Or lingerie.

EDIT: Maybe the "little things" you were thinking of are thongs.

Why is an eagle scout so good for colleges? It doesnt sound like much of an accomplishment. All you guys do is play games, go camping, light stuff on fire, and build mini cars. Is there something major i'm missing?

Get your facts right. In now way do we build mini cars. Its taken 5 years of work to get my eagle. Also having the leadership experience helps alot. Colleges and employers look for people who are determined. Do you think I would have stayed in this corney a$$ program if I was'nt? 1 more thing, Having kids your age in really helps, Nobody in our troop is the acne infested nerds you see in the scouting commercials. And camping, ooohhhh yea 3 words "Beer-In-Camp!"

I tried boyscouts for a year in 5th grade maybe? Except it was the crappy kind of boyscouts where we didn't do anything with the outdoors like I expected, and we talked about moral decisions all day. I hated that, so I decided I can learn stuff from my Dad who has more experience in the woods than all the scout masters had. Too bad I don't get a scholarship for that.

the reason scouts focuses on morals at all is because it also happens to be the offical youth group of the chruch of latter day saints better known as the mormons, if the boyscouts didn't support their moral ideology they would lose a VERY large part of their membership, and that translates to a lot of money thats also why the connotation of boyscouts is with like a loser covered in acne :banghead:

the best example i can think if is the family life merit badge (made me want to puke) besides being the most politically correct thing ever (you had your asians your whites your negros) claimed that like 80% of kids that had premerital sex regretted it, claimed that merijuana is horrible, and that drinking underage will like kill you....

Boy scouts are mormons?

Is that just in the US or is it everywhere?

raykessler
01-13-2006, 11:09 PM
no boy scouts of america arnt mormons, the mormons just use the boy scouts as their youth group, so the mormons provide a very large portion of their membership, so its in their best finsntial intrest to agree with mormon ideology

yeah i was in it untill i was 13, i got my chief shout of canada which is the highest scouting award in canda i think its similar to the eagle scout. Then i quit, i dunno why i miss it alot and wish i could go back. ahha we used to wreck the competion camps (ccamps where u go back into the woods and complete tasks that earn you points and if u get the most you win) one year we blew everyone away (over 100 groups of 4 participating) it was an amasing time and noone make fun of it untill uve tried it.

What are you dedicated to though? All ive heard is games, camping, and under age drinking. I thought you guy build those little car things? Pine Derby or something?

it is by no means an easy thing to do
What hard stuff do you do? Is it really that hard to learn how to canoe, go camping, learn how to start fires etc? I mean I do all that stuff, and I dont get into college for it. My friends in boy scouts go to the Seabase thing and go sailing and swimming for a week, how is that hard?

First off pine derby was a cub scout thing. I really think your getting the two confused.

You see when you go out on a backpacking trip and spend a week basically getting fit and screwing around you start to think "How bad would this sucked if I was a terrorist, Doing this all the time?" My point is it teaches values.

Third, Seabase was fun as hell (the short time i was there) We really werent doing anything scoutish and it was a nice excuse to chill in the keys. I didnt do the sailing part by the way cause we chose to goto the deserted island option. Your right, It wasnt hard at all. But hey, who cares, what in flordia is hard?

It's kindof hard to explain why we are dedicated. If you dont get "5 years of work" Then I seriously doubt youll ever understand. All the activities you see (cope course, rappeling, mountianering, canoeing, ect) while fun, still has a message behind it, learning to manage and deal with other people. Which is crucial in any college/job enviroment.

Yea I have some tips. Make SURE that what you send off is final, and stellar, because the process takes forever. Addittionally, try to get it knocked out before high-school. I've done both of these things, and now scouts is behind me and I have an awesome thing to put on my transcript (not to sound totally vain, but it is outgrown)...
