Title says it all what do you think man or zone? I was thinking of switching between a man and a 3-3 zone, because I want to give the other offense a couple different looks, but also keep it simple.

The Triangle Zone, small variation of a 3-3 zone, is the first thing we teach defensively. Usually, the middies are more of a problem on defense than the poles themselves, so this zone helps keep them rotating in toward the middle when they are away from the ball. It also gets the players thinking about how to make their team better defensively.... Then a few weeks later, we'll switch to man to man. If the players bring all of these principles to man to man, you don't have a problem. Realistically, we run the zone about 25% of the time, mainly against a 2-2-2.

In short, zone is a great thing to teach to start the season and introduce new players.
