Anyways, I enjoy watching baseball. I feel it is more of a game of strategy than talent.

I guess it qualifies as a sport. I mean NASCAR does, too. But NASCAR takes more skill than baseball; you have to train vigorously to resist against the g-force of the high speeds. Not to mention a high attention span.
The only hard thing about baseball is hitting the damn ball.

We shoud rename this the "post and let outburst bash you" thread. Most of my friends are hardcore baseball fans and some of them play it. One of then is giving it up for lacrosse this year. I personally dont like it. I was never good at it and the games dont keep my attention.

I'm not always a Mr. Smarty-Pants, like you.
And the most unignorant man can make an ignorant remark whenever he feels like it.
It's true, though. That ball is hard to hit. A lot of people can catch, and a lot of people can run. If you are a parapalegic, I am deeply sorry.

Haha, I like that. Good and time-worthy post Snowman. I appreciate that.
Anyways, I have always been an excellent DH'er but not that great in fielding the ball. I could hold my ground at first base though.

I played baseball. I quit because the coach at my school was a jackass. I also couldn't hit. I still like baseball. It is still my favorite sport.

Watching baseball - id rather watch nursing home patients hump...both move at the same speed, both are either out of shape or heavily medicated, both are whiney, both thank god after every score, yet nursing home patients arent overpaid,or obnoxious
Playing baseball - only if there are no lax games to be played, and I a few hours to waste

Thats gross.. but extreamly true.. Why does someone need $100 million dollars for 3 years just because they can throw a ball 90 mph? 60.5 feet. i mean damn let me in their gym with their pharmacist and i bet you i could be just as good if not better.

I played baseball for a long time when I was younger, 11 years. I've only played lax for 4. Baseball takes some singular skills but I'm hardpressed to say the participants are outstanding athletes like in lacrosse. The strategy for baseball is minutae (hit and run on this pitch or the next, move the right fielder over or not) while in lacrosse, like a lot of team sports, it is how to attack, how to defend, things like that. I can watch a baseball game still but I don't follow the seasons closely like I used to. I'd much rather watch a lacrosse game or play then watch/play baseball.

i think it takes alot more than just roids to be a good baseball player. baseball is a game of stradegy. pitchers have to try and outsmart hitters and hitters are trying to figure out the pitcher. and is takes tremendous talent to perform like some the of good players (i.e. ozzie smith, Griffey Jr. before cinci, jeter, etc.)
plus, although taking roids helps you get stronger, its not going to help you hit the ball. being a good hitter takes skill, roids just adds some power.

my opinion: it's not a sport it's an activity. why do they condition with some distance runs anyways?

they only get payed so much because so many people go to the games and make the franchise money. If people stoped watching/going to games, they wouldnt get payed as much.

It is a sport, in the sence that croquet, billiards or darts is a sport, you stand in one spot and hope to get lucky, oh and about being a good hitter, if i can catch a shot thats going around 80 with my stick with one hand, i think i can hit a ball that i know the general area it will be in.

There is a major difference between 80 and 90mph. Besides, who passes at 80mph?
I am sure you could come in contact with the ball but to hit the sweetspot and time your swing perfectly is something completely different.

Well, you probably couldn't hit an 80mph pitch, even with no movement. It's way harder than it looks. I mean, baseball is just about the only sport where getting four out of ten is considered MVP material.

I said catch a shot, and it happens alot, when im at X and people miss i come up with some crazy catches. Yea, their percentages suck, i guess they should play more video games, improve their hand eye cordiantion..
