I know there's plenty of tips around TLF about how to soften hard mesh with all of these substances...but they all involve taking the mesh out of the head and then re-stringing it. I'm an awful stringer, and it took me awhile to string this head up myself. Plus, I got rid of all the excess sidewall laces on it, so it's gunna be hard to string again with the minimum ammount of sidewall string. It's STX Dura Mesh. It was so soft and couldnt make a pocket that I had to stiffen it up with some hot water. Now, the pocket is so stiff that passes are popping out of it. Are there any ways I can soften this mesh WITHOUT taking it out of my head?

wet it a TINY bit with steaming water and pound it. if u use a really small amount, it wont become really stiff and if u pound it enough it should get softer, works for me usually

You can use hand cream, like a baseball glove. However water is the best bet. I normally soak it with cold water and go and play catch, always does the trick for me.
