If there is a big wall at your school just bring in any sticks that you have and have them try throwing at the wall. Then just walk down the line saying good job, or nice try, or some crap like that. If you can tell what they are doing wrong make a sugestion. It worked for my friend for his speech class.

If your lucky and someone in your class you are teaching plays lacrosse, have them demonstrate passing and catching, and pont out to the class what they are doing. If not, explain liek the stick, equiptment, the rules and what not, so they know a little bit about lacrosse. Then somehoe show them or tell them how to pass, then let them try. Show or tell them how to cradle. Works best in partners for passing and catching. I don't know how long your periods are (mine are 85 so you would still need more time) but in the end, have them scrimage, or play some game related to lacrosse. It can't be contact most likely because you wont have pads but maybe a pssing game like the team with 5 passes and first to scroe wins or something. Oh for showing them how to throw pass catch what not, find some pics on the web before some one passes and after they have oassed (like follow through) and show them that.
see if you can pull some kids who play lax out of thier classes to help you demonstrate

Hi there.
I'm Coaching Bantom HL is Oakville for the first time. Would they give you gym credits for being an assistant coach? You could then use Gym time as syudy time for your exams? If you are interested, let me know. We are half way through our season. If not, The Oakville Lacrosse league produced a great little coaching guide for junior levels. It has a few neat drills in it. Email me and I will try to get hold of one for you.

Follow these simple steps:
1. Explain it. (Ex. Cradling Why they need to know it.)
2. Demonstrate it. (Show them how it is done.) *Ask if anyone has any questions.
3. Make it a game. (Maybe cradle and run from one side of the room to the other. If you drop the ball you go back the starting line.)
4. Make corrections/ after the game.
5. Explain to them again why it is important to learn how to cradle.
After they have played the game it becomes clear as to why they need to learn the skill. Then add on to what they now know. By the way don't wait for EVERYONE to master the skill before you move on to the next skill. You may spend an entire year waiting for 2 or 3 people to master the skill, the rest of the class will want to move on.

Basics of attack - One handed cradling, running behind the goal, keeping the ball well and moving the ball around the goal fast. Have your offense set up, like in a 2 2 2 or a 2 3 1 and just have the ball go around fast right hand as many times as you can, then reverse it. Run plays from that.
Middies - Face off, sprinting from restraining line to restraining line, passing, shooting, make sure your middies get tons of rest.
Defense - have all of your defense get in a circle back to back. have them hop up and down alternating their feet, like running in place. then go around the circle, have them run out 10 steps, back pedal 10 steps. You get quick as stuff!
