No Discipline on Team

All - I have recently became an assistant coach for a local U-19 "boys" lacrosse club and we have some serious problems. We've had a kid come on the field smoking cigarettes swearing like a sailor. Another practice this kid was screaming about how much weed he was going to smoke after practice. Did I mention he's the most talented kid on the team? Anyhow all of the coaches met and decided that the kid was going to be dismissed. What does the head coach do, not a thing. The kid was back today. Today we had one kid ar\guing with another coach using the "F" word at the top of his lungs. I told the head coach there was a problem and he should go see what was going on. What does he do? Tells me to leave them alone. It's depressing to me. It seems the head coach has thrown us coaches to the mercy of a few spoiled little *******s. Any ideas? Or am I just venting...

Make them run. Everytime someone curses, just say, 10 suicides. Don't tell them why, they'll catch on.

If you are not getting support from the head coach, I would consider moving to another program that would appreciate your help and support you. Without the head coach's approval, effecting discipline is going to be next to impossible.

Nothing at all wrong with venting though, it helps clear the mind.

Got to get tougher on the consequences to the player..
First offense, make him run or do many pushups
Second offense, make the team run or do pushups
Third offense, make the team do more..

sooner or later, the team will put enough pressure on the "bad kid(s)" to stop..

have a coaches meeting and all the assistant coaches should threaten to walk if the "head coach" doesn't shape up. Only problem with that is all the people involed have to be serious about it Good luck
