Is it common in Lacrosse for Captains to have a "C" on the upper left chest like in Hockey? If not, how are captains signified?

Yeah thats how its always been for us too, i was just wondering because id never seen anything like it. Thanks!
I've never seen the marking on jerseys in lacrosse, so I'm pretty sure it's a hockey thing. I think it's a cool thing to have, though. Better than a letterman's jacket.

In box ever team has players with a "C" and two players with "A" in field no one has the letters but are captains just run practises and in games the ref is told who they are

Never had it on any of my teams. It isn't needed, the refs know who the captains are ahead of the game. The team knows who is captain. Just like we never had names on our jerseys. There are no individuals on a team, there is just the team.

Everyone knows who #17 is anyways.
I think it's just that most teams can't afford to buy a new jersey or three every year, when a new set of captains is chosen.

I know a local team here is going to use the "C" this year, but I think it is because the president's son is one of the captains. And the team buys new (inexpensive) uniforms each year.

yeah, but if you dont get new uniforms you can easily just sew a C patch onto the chest then undo the stringing at the end of the season.

At my school the girls wear armbands that say captain on them. Not for all sports but I know soccer does it and I think we did it for lacrosse as well.

coincidentally, there was an article on espn.com's page 2 about the captain's C (Uni Watch)

the C is usually used to motivate someone on a team to step up. If a coach is having trouble with a captain or a star player they will put a C to remind them and to motivate them. It can be used in any sport. Like last year with tracy mcgrady.

In box lax we always have the captain's marked, because they are the only players desginated to be able to talk to the referee's. It's kinda dumb but it does feel good to have it.

My team uses them but I play box. We just do the same thing as hockey and sew the letters onto the jersey. It seems dumb to buy new ones every year just for letters.
Hmmm, I hope my jersey from last year doesn't get replaced. I liked it. There is a huge rip in it from getting thrown into the boards. Our team is cheep though so I doubt it.

Yeah its not a field lacrosse thing. Like all the teams with big traditions dont have the Cs or nameplates. Thats not to say that Box teams (hockey influence obviously) and teams that like to be different (CSU, Herkimer) dont break out of the norm.
