Thoughts on the NLL draft.
U of Delaware's Scott Evans going to Rochester I like so I can watch him play this year.
Pissed off that Toronto took Bergey right before Philly could get him
Toronto took an American college (Ryan McClay) player in the second round????
Tim Booth,Kevin Cassese, and Mike Mollet to the Knighthawls. Copycats :)
Mike Springer to Phill (NICE)

First things first....Josh Bergey wasn't going #9 to Philly, that spot was reserved for Tom Hajek, who the Wings did draft. If Toronto didn't draft Bergey, Philly would've tried to trade to get a second round pick to get him. (all speculation now)
As for the draft, from a Wings stand point, it went GREAT!!!! The best player in the draft, Ryan Ward stolen at #3. A great D man in box stolen at #9. Mike Howley , an extremely underrated defensive player stolen at #30, Pat Collins and Michael Springer---two sleepers stolen late in the draft, and quite possibly the best steal of all......Kyle Sweeney STOLEN at the last pick in the draft!
The Wings collected some great defenders, and put the best player in the draft square in the middle of their offense. I think this draft fills in some of the holes that the Wings had.
Outside of Philly, some of the picks confuse me. Bergey going #8 to Toronto and Ryan McClay at #17 as well, confuse the hell out of me. Toronto prided itself so long on being totally Canadian, and now they have an American movement? Kevin Finneran couldn't have possibly made that much of a case in his first mediocre year in Toronto.
Knighthawks draft wasn't very flashy. Scott Evans is the best player they got, other than that, their picks were kinda flat.
The Bandits draft was the real kicker. Picking AJ Shannon is strange, in the way that he would have to be flown in every weekend to play. Also, Adam Donegar selected in the fourth round was a bit of a steal, until you realize that he may never play a single minute in the NLL. Also, Jon Ianucci, picked #77, hasn't even played one minute in college, and was not elligible to be drafted. Someone was really asleep at the wheel when Buffalo drafted! Very poor showing!!!!
Vancouver had the best possible draft available, and they rolled out a B+, rather than the A they needed. Mark Miya****a is a stud, but drafting him 1st, rather than 4th cost them the opportunity at Ward. Craig Conn (who they did take at #4) and Kevin Olsen are good pickups, but not stellar. One mistake cost the Ravens some explosive players.
San Jose had a quiet, but effective draft. They got some guys who'll work well with their system, and will stick with that team.
Here are my grades for the draft:
Philadelphia: A (literally "stole" the show)
Vancouver: B+ (B+ is a horrible grade for a team with 3 picks in the first round)
Rochester: B+ (Scott Evans, and some boring yet solid players)
San Jose: B (solid draft...but did not get the spark plug they needed)
Arizona: B- (solid, yet not exciting draft)
Calgary: B- (Taylor Wray is a huge need on D)
Toronto: C+ (confusing picks leave much to be determined)
Anaheim: C (nothing to show for last year's poor season)
Buffalo: D- (Shannon is the lone bright spot)
Colorado: F (out of no fault of their own, but no picks in the top 3 rounds make this so)

ok dude, first off toronto probably picked those US field fags for trade bait to bring some canadian boys up in hurr....
Bergey is good, but is he as good as his bro and will he be any good in BOX???
is he tuff enuff????
Everybody in ontario assumes they drafted for trade bait, but we'll see, i hope to see bergey and finneran on a line, just hope the bergey kid can learn the ways of a real lacrosse game soon!!!!

AND scott evans is an awesome player, he'll play for sure this season and
expect to see him in some scraps as well as some sweet shots!
as for the others, i don't get into much field in the states. so i don't know them, but will they adapt to box fast or flop and suck like casey powell (ooooh my knee, meanwhile kim squire has got bruised ribs and flesh eating disease in a hand)!
Dude, let's see, there hasn't been a good rookie since the year of kaleb toth and kelusky....

Scott Evans was a good player for U of Delaware and people thought he was going to be the next John Grant and take Delaware back in to the playoffs. For his first two years he played a lot and was one of the leading scorers, but in the last two years he was there the coach didn't play him and put in other players he only played on man up. I still don't understand why they took him up in the last few years, but hopefully he will do well in Rochester.

he's got a real hot head and attitude that kid, he'll be rougher one in the NLL i guarantee it... it runss in the evans family, the younger one is the same....
... to add to the grant comparison, they're both from peterborough ontario canada, and they both played junior there, they both played senior lacrosse while still junior age (senior or major lax in canada is like a summer pro box league, all the NLL canadian pro play there in the summer, like grant jr, and doyle, and such.... like sanderson if you know him too....
but yeah, he is a true asswipe of a guy when you play against him so that could be why delaware didn't like hiom in the end, he probably nevber listened to the coach and told him off knowing him, and he and his bro are ball hogs too...

Yeah, everyone was comparing him to grant and he obviously did not produce. Didn'y his bro win some long distance throwing contest or something.

maybe, but he's one hell of a laxer dude, his younger bor played u-19 against me and smoked the league!
he's real good, but a real hot head too!!!!
Evans got compared to grant quick cuz of the same hometown and college and they both played ht e same junior team , not to mention senior games in peterboro too, no wonder???
but the truth is, the senior 'boro team is not half as good as it was when grant came up....
grant came up cuz he was awesome, evans came up cuz they were desperate to beat brooklin and brampton dso they needed scrappers...
