I was just wondering when you shoot on the run do you bring elbow in front of your body or do you bring you hands far back as possible. In the Lacrosse Shooting On The Run - Stephen Peyser video. It looks like he brings his elbow in front of him.

I already know the you have to keep your elbows up and away from your body (about 6 inches). I'm just not sure where my elbow should be.

stephen peyser and paul rabil shoot on the run exactly the same. they are practically the same player. if they switched numbers a game i would never notice

ehh, I wouldn't shoot like rabil, unless you have forearms like rabil. Get your arms out for more leverage.

No I mean like should I shoot with my elbow in front of me but keep my hands and elbows up and away from my body. What i'm asking is should i bring my hands back or should i bring my elbow in front of me? I'm still going to shoot with my hands up and away from me. I'm not going to bring my hands as close as possible like how rabil does it.

i mean unless your jacked like rabil and peyser then your not going to get as much torque on your shot by shooting with your elbows in front of your body. at like 2:28 in the video, listen to quint kessenich. that should answer your question

hahaha none of you guys really answered his question just talked about paul rabil and stephen p.

i would torque your body as much as you can, so extend your arms behind your body. Remember, you dont have the same power that you get from your legs like in a time and room shot, so you must compensate with a powerful upper body twist and wrist snap.

Rabil puts his hands close to his body for protection of his stick. And his elbow up for accuracy. This is the smartest thing a player could do if you have perfected accuracy, power, and consistency shooting in that particular way. (as Peyser and Rabil have clearly done)

My advice is: Do what you feel more comfortable doing. And do not try to mimic others playing styles. There is no right or wrong way to shoot, it just depends on that player. I feel like putting my elbow up gives me more accuracy on my shots, but not nearly as much power behind my shot. It also makes me look super fancy...

... It helps to have super-saiyan-like-forearms too....

quick question, how would putting your elbow up effect the velocity of a shot?

The same concept as having your hands as far away as possible from your body. If you put your elbow up, you won't be able to put as much power into your shot because you are restricted somewhat. But might improve accuracy for some.

Like people have mentioned, your shooting style is whatever works best for you. And as far as the forearm thing on the shot torque, that's not it at all. look at the rotation on his torso in one of the last shots. this is where they derive all their power from. that's why it's one of the most dominant forms of shooting on the run.

elbow in front will improve accuracy on over hand shots only

hands behind = more levrage faster shot

rabil can pretty mutch make up his own technique dont refer to famous players they are super men who lift weights and whos technique is based of what they prefer
