Hi! I just joined the forums here and thought I'd get to posting. My name is Lauren, im 13 years old and live in Georgia. I have been playing lacrosse for 5 seasons now and I'm trying to get onto the Highschool team this time next year.

Right now I have my cruddy little warped Synergy, and i'm looking at an apex with nice stringing. Also, I've been looking at some Harrows. Would that be a good shaft choice? I like the fact that they have a rubberized grip and are pretty light, but im looking for some other opinions. Any suggestions that arnt too expensive?

Also, I'm going to be trying out for the high school team next year. I dont mean to be ****y, but i dont think its going to be a problem getting onto the team. Im pretty good and have no trouble catching anything or scooping, and im in good shape. Im about 5'3 and prefer attack because I get good spurts of energy 24/7 and ive got a nice and accurate shot. I just want to wow the coaches and maybe get on Varsity :nut: (like that'll happen, but i can dream eh?)

So do you have any drill suggestions, strategys, ect on advancing my lacrosse skillz? Thanks!

Sticks- Since you have been playing for a while, you might want to look into the impulse, a very good head. Apex is also good, but the impulse is designed for the more advanced person, which you probably are since you have been playing for 5 seasons. Also, some of the other debeer heads are pretty sweat too. As for shafts, you might want to look at all of the harrow, not just the girls versions. The I-beam is very similar to the title IX but is guys diamiter and is straight (though they do make girls straight). Also, since you are looking for lightness, the db 803 is the lightest shaft out there, and is usually only around 50 dollars, so check that out if you can. You won't need a very stong shaft, seeing as how it is high school and you won't get checked alot, so I would be looking for the grip you like and weight, like you said. If you have a local lacrosse store, which you might not but anyways, go there and try out the shafts fpr their grip and weight. Then if you like them go online and see if you can get some good deals on them.

Making the team- Just consistently do wall ball, pass around with friends, work you left hand, shoot while running and while stationary. Also, make sure you are in shape. When tryouts come about, work your butt off and always have a postive attitude. Don't act like you know everything or what not, but if the coach teahces you anything, try your best to do it, and do not complain about anything. As for making varsity, it is quite possible, me and my sis were the only froshes on varsity last year, and will probably be the only sophmores on varsity this year. But you will make boatloads of awesome friends too so don't be shy! Enjoy your lacrosse experience too, you only get four years of high school.

I also think there might have been some threads on some more drills too if you search for them....

Yeah, i was looking at the impulse before. I like a flexable stick, and I want to keep it like the synergy. The Apex is really a lot like the Synergy, which made it one of my favorites. I've messed around with it a little and I liked it. Bout the harrows: I dont think I want the flex shaft, just the nice simple straight one. I mean, I can work with crap and have been for quite some time(my stick is taped together with electrical tape, but it does its job)

Yeah, so if you want to get a shaft that is better than the aluminum most heads come with, and you don't care about the taper and what not, look into the db803, it's metal but mad light and not very expensive. But if you are going to go with harrows, try out some of the guy's shafts too, you just might like them.
