ups to attack
-you score goals
-you get that nice warm feeling when you snipe a corner
-its easier to be noticed when your a good attackman

Downs to attack
- It's easier to tell when you suck
- I don't know how old you are but if you want to play in college keep in mind that it may take you more years to develop so you might not get as many good looks.
- More people want to play attack than defense = more competition for a starting or playing spot
- You get the crap hacked out of you every day in practice and every game
There are plenty more negatives to playing attack, I may be a little biased though cause I play pole too. Just make sure you play what you because you don't want to end up playing a position you absolutely hate.

Attack= Goals, Glory, Girls
play the position your better at in the off season for a travel team or club to get looks and play your other position for your school
I play Attack. I played D last year.
Ups to D:
You get to hurt
You don't really get hurt that much
You've got a big stick
If you're lazy, you don't have to run that much, unless you're defending a kid with ADHD.
If you make a good play, it looks really good.
Less protective gear
Downs:
If you have a good offense, you'll get bored.
If you have a crap D, it makes everyone look crappy including you!
You don't get to score
If you pass it up and your O scores, 9 times out of 10 you won't get credited the assist.
Attack Ups:
You score
Girls
You can be a hero
You don't have to carry around a 6 foot stick
Downs:
If your O sucks, you'll get bored because the ball will always be in your end
You get hacked(suck it up)
A little more protective gear(more than D)

the fact of the matter is, attack gets more glory and defense is harder to be great at, but if you can break past the "Above Average" mark in defense you will shine like nobodies business.

i say d-pole if your young, work on both hands every day sliding and dodging (trust me you will need it) and if you have size and hit the weight room, enough time you'll be great

Quoted for truth. I played both in High School, D in college, and I am admittedly biased toward D. One thing no one has mentioned yet is that most of the time D units are a pretty tight knit group. The teamwork and communication required to play D well lends itself to a group within a group on a team.

attackers can be like o i had a goal. but attackers also get poke checked which i think is so anoyying cuz i never drop the ball when im poke checked. defenders can et a lot more hits and can poke check

This could not be more true.
My best friend from childhood and I have been together playing D for the last couple years and it has made us tighter than ever. You wont see too many attackmen who really appreciate the work of a second stringer but with defense the group is smaller, maybe only four dpoles and you learn to love each other.
