Switching to LSM?

well right now I play defense. the only thing I was thinking about was maybe I'd make a better LSM. I want to be more of a take-away guy, and I would be playing agaisnt there best middie so I don't know. Any differences on the skills and mindset of a D compared to a LSM?

Head on a swivel, kid.

If you wanna be a take-away guy, use poke checks frequently and when you get between him and his stick, rip outwards.

Another thing I do is jump passes. If you anticipate the pass from the adjacent middie at the right time, you have a clear path to the goal(assuming you have decent speed).

Yes I do have good speed, but I only really use a poke when they are about to throw it. I've have more suscess using a 2 handed wrap.

Well I recently made the temporary switch from defense to LSM for fall lacrosse. What you have to understand is that you will have to worry about north-south dodges since you are usually playing up top rather than the east-west dodges you see playing x or wing. You also have to have great endurance since you will constantly be running on and off the field.

Yeah problem is, if the person you're playing has any protection skills at all, they can roll opposite the side you're checking, and then you get beat.

Ask any shortstick what check they hate the most, it'll be poke check. Do that, and it throws them off their game.

i mean if i get dodged yea ill throw a poke. but after if he is running N/S ill throw a 2h wrap. if he rolls back i can easly push out and force him down.

Just keep it simple. Fancy junk ain't be workin' against 'dem skilled folk.
