I am in Toronto, so I've played for the SAINTS in scarboro and I've played for the STARS intermediate which is the feeder to junior a and b in TO.

Box is 5 on 5, two goalies, hockey boards, crosschecking allowed, 4'x4' nets, actually 4'9" wide now if i'm correct as of last year??? and cement for the most part altought some have turf

Lax4Ever

We play on cement for OLA games and practices in the season but in the winter, we play on turf. It is the only floor we have and we love it. It doesn't hurt near as much when you slide.

I don't know about the nets. I thought they were still 4x4. If they changed, I hope we got ours after the change because we don't have alot of money and don't want to replace our nets so soon.

Paul_Gait_RULZ

they probably already are 4'x4'9"

cuz if you play OLA games in the last 2 seasons, i think it was mandatory....

you can't really tell it's wider than tall but it is really.....

what shoes do ya'll use for box and do you use your field stick or have a certain stick you perfer for box.

Paul_Gait_RULZ
11-10-2003, 06:44 PM
well for box I use anything basketball shoe and I usually keep some hairspray for really slippery floors like markham Ontario.....

As for my twigg.... I use a different head from box to field mostly because of pich differences in them, (field=wide top, box all of the stick and scoop really narrow just about ball/ball and a half wide)

i used a razer for field and have been using it for a master's winter league, it's got a great pinch with a narrow throat and wide scoop, but i still think i'll switch back when contact box starts again

Paul_Gait_RULZ
11-10-2003, 06:47 PM
i think for box (on concrete not turf, cuz turf is harder to scoop) the STX BOX powerplay is great, as is the wizards and tritons box pinched.... STX proton and x2 pinched box style are sweet too!

I am not a fan of brine in box nor shamrock and mohawk....

as for shoes nike hyperflights and classic flight low profile's are sweet, but anything basket ball will do really...

Lax4Ever

I use a brine cyber but I will be getting a new stick before the next season. The Triton looks like it will be my next stick but I can't seem to order one. The sport store that I would order it through gets their gear from debeer but they say they can't order a triton.

Paul_Gait_RULZ
11-11-2003, 03:56 PM
why not??

do they have national sport around your area???

they can get 'em....

Triton's are everywhere

Lax4Ever
11-11-2003, 04:37 PM
Nope.
All we have is sports chech. It sucks! All they sell is clothes, some shoes and horribly overpriced equipment. It's a shame because it replaced a good store that was a bit smaller but was geared towards selling equipment rather than nike shirts.

What are some good gloves for box? I don't want to spend a lot of money but I still want some decent gloves. Are the Debeer gloves good because they should be easy to get. Unless they can't order them either.

Paul_Gait_RULZ
11-12-2003, 06:40 AM
well, judging by what you said, i doubt you'll actually get the gloves I recommend...

I think you should have leather period, the icons are designed for box, stay away from visions....

as far as stx and warrior is concerned theyre good for box too... just make sure they have enough thumb protection and wrist protectio, it's the major part of a box glove

this is my box lax pinched triton, i tried to get it like the stx box head, but by debeer!

http://community.webshots.com/album/99995639sOYasW

just check out the triton pics, and my helmet for fun...

the pictures lie, but the triton is really as narrow as the stx box head!

The gloves I have are very pricey but awesome they're stx ignitors best glove out there I say.

Paul_Gait_RULZ
11-14-2003, 11:25 AM
i would probably agree, but the stx gladiators look like they will top the ignitors (if the ignitors are the leather ones that all the junior a teams got...)

Is anyone playing through the winter? If you are in the Kingston area(Ont) let me know if you want to play some winter box on turf.
The guy that started our lax in town backed out and now our team is running everything. I am now running the winter box stuff.
Also, is anyone else just starting out. If so how hard has it been? Our town doesn't seem to want lax. Hockey towns can be horrible to start something new in.

Paul_Gait_RULZ
11-25-2003, 02:31 PM
yeah they can, good luck finding an indoor rink, i had to lie and say i was 21 to play master's this winter, i can't play tournaments because of that!

Paul_Gait_RULZ
11-25-2003, 02:32 PM
our league took a while to start up with rep and all, it's good now, but we got screwed out of the OLA intermediate last year with birth cert. crap and all that other stuff!

Lax4Ever
11-25-2003, 03:26 PM
We are going to be using an indoor soccer dome. we did it last year and it should be no problem this year. The problem is trying to get the younger groups.

Paul_Gait_RULZ
11-25-2003, 03:39 PM
see our problem is getting facilities!!!!!!

we have soccer domes, but all these international ppl in toronto actually play hardcore soccer, so those domes are booked tight!!!

and the rink we have is crappy, for ball hockey, but it's sweet!!!!

ya i use a basketball shoe but on the bottom i acctually use a wood varithane and i just paint it onto the sole works awesome. Adidas basketball shoes work the best with the varithane on them try it out.

My box lax for winter started sunday. I had to work so I will be going next sunday. Does anyone know Jeff Farmer? He got things going. He beat me by a week but he managed to get a bunch of university players to come out.

actually the best kind of shoe that really bring out the flavour of your feet are indoor soccer shoes. they stick to just about everything, and im not a rich boy so i buy them because there cheap as well

well I am rocking t-mac3's for box lax, in a steenhuis shiny blue color.....Tracy McGrady has them in this shiny blue....

i definitely use a different head in box than field, there is about a 2 1/2 inch scoop difference, I use mohawk mission pinched like the stx powerplay (toughest head, i cracked the stx)... I also have used triton pinched like powerplay and wizard....

Basically for box lax I take a head and pinch it to play like the old box lax woodies... I like the narrowness release and scoop.....

i have gone to mohawk as of late and love it, had a thunder long ago, then went proton...wizard...triton(warped)...stxbox(cracked) ...Mohawk Mission(all good 65$ a head, tough as hell!!!!)

basically any head is good, my pocket stringing always makes the difference....

all my box heads have a woodie pinch....

Look at my pics, the razer is my field pinch....

I play box lacrosse in the Women's Box Lacrosse Association. We got a brand new arena with turf in it, yay Delby! I think it's just called Iroquois Arena :\

yeah, box rocks
