thank you for acknowledging both versions of the sport. we have far too many puritans on both sides of the st. lawrence that waste our sport's time by trashing it rather than promoting it. i prefer box but i do enjoiy a good college game - uva vs syracuse in rutgers last spring is my personal best field game ever witnessed -- as much as the most devoted mll fan.

the Calgary feild lacrosse organization is awesome, its like everybody know everybody, and we all play for the same team, but once box starts upthier can be some bad blood. I for one hate certain clubs in calgary, for they are some of the dirtiest clubs in the city.

what lesSspike says is true. we don't take advantage of what we have. like the world tournament and the heritage cup. if they had it at the ACC (air canada centre) and advertised them more i think they would have had allot more poeple come out to watch both heritage cup game and world tounament. but i do think that LAX is gonna allot bigger than it already is in Canada.

Box lacrosse is a past the time sport for hockey players.. It is not lacrosse.. Its a completely different game and its a joke..just like Canada.. Coming in here and saying Baseball is our national sport is just asking for trouble.. And by the way kid, I am a Paramedic, Nationally Registered, State Licensed in New York and California, County licensed in Los Angeles County, CA., and a Graduate of the Los Angeles City Fire Department Paramedic Academy.. I would love to see you come up to Canada and play a game against one of our B-teams or even C-teams for that matter. You would get "worked over" as you put it. Not that I care that much but your arguement is like comparing apples to oranges, because you cannot compare Box to Field. They are two totally different games. What you have is two different versions of the game. Originally, the game was a Native American sport. But as the tribes became separated and ventured forth into different areas of American continent, the game became different as well.

Now, over time, the people who came into contact with the game continued to change the game to suit their respective situations. In Canada, they went with a smaller format, with a more hockey styled look. But that doesn't make it hockey. In fact, if you really study the game, the only similarity to hockey would be the design and demensions of the playing surface, number of players and the goalie stance. After that, there are no similarities.

Mind you, the MLL is no more pure than the NLL is to boxla. The MLL resembles a field styled game, but as the players all say...is still not pure. Sure, its played outside, on a similarly sized field with the same amount of players, but the rule differences are set up for scoring and big plays. Hell, you can slash the crap out of anyone on the field you like. Tell me where in the NCAA rule book you can do that...

Just because you don't like boxla, doesn't mean its any less lacrosse than the MLL, NCAA or any other version of field lax is.

Well said!! And yes even though I do not agree with his Opinion it is his and his alone, I think I just took it a little personally. That being said, I feel that having played both Box in Canada and Field in the United States they are the two greatest sports I have played. Each one brings its own dynamic and to be able to have played both and at a high level is one of the best things I could of asked for.

It will be interesting to see in 10 years where players from both countries are at in respect to cross over play(box to field, field to box).

I just wanted to remind you that Hockey is your sport, not lacrosse.. and that the Vancouver NLL Box Lacrosse team is the one that Failed this season just like Hockey.. Sports are falling apart in Canada.. and its not like you have a lot of other sports to fill the void.. I guess maybe sports just isn't a priority in Canada.. and if you look at the results of the Lacrosse world games I posted, you can see that the US Lacrosse Players obviously OWN you.. So until you win the world games at least, don't come on here and boast that Lacrosse is Your Sport just because you came up with an indoor thug game to past the time between hockey seasons.. And the Gait brothers and Tom Marachek are great Lacrosse players.. there are always Exceptions to the Rule that Canadians are good at Box lacrosse not Field Lacrosse.. The Gait's and Marachek got away from the thug type of lacrosse Canadian's play and learned and practiced ball handling and the finesse part of the game, that is what made them successful in the US and in NCAA Div. 1 lacrosse. But I believe all of the Powells, Millon, Jalbert, Hubbard, Haugan, and Gill are all better than the Gaits were or Marachek.. The sport is evolving, and although the Gaits were great in the late 80's they are by no means the icons of the sport.. all they did was dive into the crease and jump up and put their stick over the back of the goal.. thats hardly a game changing event.. and all 3 Powells broke their goal totals.. So, sorry.. but Lacrosse is an American Sport.. and always will be.. and I have no desire to play box lacrosse, I'm not a thug.. but I do support the NLL as a Anaheim Storm season ticket holder, I just don't go to the games, I give the tickets away.. hbm

OK this is probably true. Canadians don't feel that we are defined by our success
in sports. Our athletes, are shamefully underfunded by the government and

You should review the history of the sport a little closer. I think the native
people would disagree that it's either American or Canadian. The origins, as

it doesn't take too much intelligence to figure out why you guys can't win at Field Lacrosse.. Because you aren't smart enough, and you don't have enough dexterity or ability to comprehend or develop the finesse part of the field game.. You overcommit trying to make cheap hits and your defense gets beat.. Face it. National Summer sport.. C'mon.. At least if I was going to try to claim a sport I would make sure I was the best at it.. I'd be ashamed if we weren't the best at our national sport.. Lacrosse is the official team sport of Maryland, thats where I'm from
