Hey, I'm a deranged hockey fan looking for some kind of team to support and since there is no hockey I was thinking about getting behind the Vancouver Ravens. Problem is as far as I can see the NLL season is half over and the Ravens have yet to play a game. Their website isn't telling me anything, so I thought I would try here.

they should have tryed to get bear mountain arena in victoria its not as big but they would have been sold out every night instead of having alot of empty seats and not even having the upper bowl open and it would be way cheaper for them to operate.

Bear mountain isnt even close to big enough for an NLL team. Bear mountain only holds like 2500 people and an NLL team would need well over 6000 to make money. GM place would have worked it people knew there was a team. In the last two season there was pretty much no advertisements at all to promote the team.

Each staduim has to have the capacity to hold at least 10,000.

Enter the BCA in Rochester. Capacity: 10,300.

Not that I really want Rochester to lose its stadium, but I long for the days when 10,000 is too small for an NLL team.

i know bear mountain isnt big but they didnt even have close to 10,000 ppl at gm place and they would have at least had a team and sell out crowd at bear mountain

Its stadium capacity, not ticket sales. Sounds stupid, but the NLL really wants a facility that can potentially house a worth-while crowd, in spite of cities who can house sell outs. In some cities it works where you can match sell-out crowds with large stadiums, in others it doesn't.

Personally, the 10 teams the NLL has now should be bolstered until they're all turning in 8,000+, before the NLL expands anymore. But you and I both know that won't happen.

I really miss the Ravens with a passion. :(( They were my NLL team and I'm STILL in shock that they're gone. I mean we all know that lacrosse is huge enough as it is in BC's Lower Mainland but for this sort of thing to happen like that so soon to them?!?! Something's certainly wrong. The Ravens' demise happened at the same time when the Ottawa Rebel went down too. Well.... I think that the Ravens should make a real serious effort in coming back anywhere in the Lower Mainland area, not necessarily to Vancouver.

Anyway, that's the thing with the NLL right now ..... too many teams are folding at a high rate. The Anaheim Storm was its latest casualty and who knows where they'll move to next?? Perhaps to the Seattle area ........ where its real close to the Lower Mainland of BC?? At least they're in the States and would have a better chance of staying there unlike Anaheim and New York. But anyways, we'll see what happens.

The Ravens owner was originaly a group of guys but even before they played a single game till 3 yrs later when they folded One by one they walked away from the team. Leaving it all in the hands of one man who tried to sell the team while selling everything he had even his house just to keep the team a-float.Meaning only paying the players and staff though usually late so no money for advertising and hardley any to pay rent. With the help of the league the team was sold to another man who also bought a san diego soccer team. He then walked on both the teams and leagues so the man the team kept reverting to had them again then he tried to switch arenas when his lease with GM Place expired and rent money owed. He had an agrement in principle with The Pacific Colusium but before the 2005 season started the arena backed out of the deal so with know place to play the closed shop.First year was AVG.12,000 fans a game as the advertising money dried up so did the fans as any NLL city can tell you its hard to get on the local sports cast tv or print. The final season was about AVG 7,000 fans since nobody but the diehard fans knew when the games were on.

I hope Vancouver gets the Ravens back. And the crowds the Ravens need to support them.
