OK, ladies, lets get the this forum back in gear. what are your favorite players and/or teams? i love the aggressive and innovative play of amy appelt of virginia. sarah albrecht of northwestern is also another great attacker that is brilliant around the goal. teamwise, id go with northwestern because kelly amonte hiller is such an amazingly smart and talented coach with a roster of highly talented players. i like their unselfish team play. what do you guys think? sumsum, lilaxgrl, ljlax, everyone come on just shout em out!

cant go past Sonia Judd!!! Such an amazing player! Also somebody i love to watch is Delia Cox from UMD. Kristen Kjellman from NU is another player who is becoming a big threat.and when Acacia Walker turns it on, she is another amazing player!!!
As for teams, i am definately a terps Fan, even though they might not be as good as the terps of old, but i am definately a fan of Northwestern too. Not a big fan of virginia.

sonia judd coached like a preseason/pick up kind of tourny in san diego. i know she is an amazing player. but she totally did nothing coaching wise during the tournament. very disapointing. anyway i love kelly amonte too. i lived in chicago for 10 years so go northwestern. i lovee that they are becoming so good and are not from the east coast. also im a big fan of quin carny coach at stanford. i love that school. in the past i havent followed it closely wenought to have much tosay. but thats definately changing this year/ so anything i should know about good teams players id love to hear since i gues im way behind on all this :) thanks

just thought of another one: cherie greer! although she's kinda older an i believe she started out with a woodie and has diff. techniques, she's still an amazing player! i'm surprised... and impressed by her continuing excellence in lacrosse!

Quinn Carney is no longer the coach at Stanford. Just so u know.
I played against cherie greer, along with a whole bunch of other amazing players, the past two summers in the National Tournament. The first one she played with a woodie and last year she used a molded. With either, is was amazing, and sooooo fast.
I love watching Amy Appelt play, she is sooo creative and so dominant on the field.

Dude...My favorite it Crista Samaras....she is the beast when it comes to a powerful person in lacrosse. She was Ivy leage rookie of the year,1998-1999 Ivy leage MVP, Princeton Career pionts leader,3 time 1st team all american, US nationl eliet team member, 1999,2000, and 2003 Vail shootout MVP, founed the club lax team X-Team.....and on top of all that she is the Womans director for Warrior Lacrosse Line.
The best part about her game is that off the feild she looks just like every other girl but when she steps on the field she is insane at LAX!!!

Favorite players? Too many to name them all (all women's lacrosse players are my fav, of course! But these are some great girls: Cathy Nelson-Reese (wish I could have seen her playing in college), Tori Wellington, Sonia Judd, Courtney Hobbs, Brooke Richards, Jen Adams, some other Duke and UMD players, gosh I dont even know. Those are the main ones I guess.
My fav teams are UMD, University of Denver, Boston U, W&L, Duke, UPenn, TOO MANY! My hands-down, no exceptions fav team is UMD.

....you must have not been taking much notice of, or listened too closely to Sonia Judd if you think she did nothing coaching-wise.

are u talking to me?
becasue she didnt even like talk to us. she was like hmm ur doing good go back out there and win.
she coached at a clinic i did about a year or so ago and she was amazing. but i was really disappointed that she didnt get more involved, because i know she is an amazing player and i thought i could learn a lot from her. it was just a disappointment thats all.
btw read more carefully i never said she wasnt good (in fact i said she was amazing ..AGAIN) i just said she did a crappy job coaching since she completely neglected our team..even tho it was like a pick up tournament, it still would have been nice to have a coach.
way to insult me with ur very first post, when ur the one who needs to learn how to read.
(sorry that was rude but i really never said she was a bad player or coach, she jsut didnt get involved during that tournament)
:(
and i will quote myself even.

Also, gotta remember Lauri Kenis. Really cool person and I've heard she's a sick player. Dorney, Sommar, they rock as well.
I was watching UPENN play and now I really like #15 on their team. Reallllly good defender.
Just saw Coco Stanwick play again, she's great too.
Like I said, too many to name.

But i guess you get that somtimes. and liek u said, it doesnt take anything away from her being an mazing player. so cant wait to watch her at the world cup!!! havent seen her play in a while

ive gotta say my fave players are the girls at stanford- they arent a huge name for lax but i think they can make it to the tourney this year- not only do they have a good chemistry on the field but theyve got some key players- kelsey twist is just one of the sickest players ive ever seen on offense, and totally unselfish. And then theyve got laura shane, an extremely talented freshman in goal.

what about gail decker? she graduated from james madison last year. broke the all time ncaa record for career points as well as points scored in a single game. i think that deserves some recognition. i can't believe no one has mentioned her yet!
lax_08
03-24-2005, 06:41 PM
are you sure she broke the all time record for career points? do u mean Jen Adams' record? cos i never heard anything about it, and im sure i would have read about it everywhere

You're definitely right. Gail scored the most points in a game and for a season last year. . .but she didn't break the all time record. I think she is tied with Jen Adams for goals scored in a season though. She is still worth mentioning, but yeah you're right. . .I don't know what I was thinking. . .thanks for pointing that out :).

You know LJLAX...I was once told by one of the world's most influential US men's lacrosse players - "don't bother with forums because some of the people can be rude, insulting and think they are lacrosse experts, and they don't know all the facts."
When I saw what you said about Sonia Judd I was certainly taken aback.
You talk about insulting - weren't you doing exactly that when you said she did a crappy job and neglected the team???
Please in the future before you write derogatory remarks like that, get all the facts - you have no idea what was going on with Sonia, so don't ever assume anything.
Another thing - are you not insulting me when you say:
"are you talking to me??"
"when ur the one who needs to learn how to read."
What sort of attitude is that?? Quite rude and mis-directed I would have thought.
I also believe that you may need to 'read more carefully'...
Never did I say that you said she wasn't a good player.
You know - when I mentioned to Sonia about what happened, she was humble enough to say that she was sorry you felt that way and hoped you would attend next-time as she is sure you would benefit from the experience and have a great time.
She never made excuses or said anything rude or insulting about you. Her wonderful attitude is one of the reasons that players such as Sonia have such a following and why they have earned respect.
I genuinely apologise if you felt annoyed - I certainly was very annoyed!!
But please have a think about what you say on forums about players & other people, and maybe understand that what you see or experience on camps, is not always a true indication of coaches personalities or attitude.

No offense to anyone but in my humble opinion Sonia Judd is one of the greatest people I've ever met, she is everything the person above me said AND an amazing player.
Another great player to watch is Katie Chrest (sp?). I saw her play at Georgetown and the girl is fiesty. That team in itself has an amazing coaching staff, they are a really tough team.

i wasnt insulting anyone! i was just annoyed because u didnt read what i meant. and u werent at the clinic. all i know is i didnt get to learn anything from her when i wish i could have? it wasnt like a clinic either. it was a mini tournament. so my sister just gave everyone positions and we went out there and played. she showed up 5 min before our first game and we were already warmed up and headed onto the field. she told us we were doing good during half times. but thats pretty much it. i dont understand why u are getting mad at me for being disappointed. i realize i was out of line and get kind of mad. but i never ever ever said that she wasnt a really good player and probably an excellent coach. i prob just restated myself too many times and rather angrily. im sorry
but kutsnake we arent talking abuot the facts. we are talking about one camp-2 days. thats not a lot. and that doesnt take away from her as a player. and if anyone doesnt know the facts its u because u werent there? i dont even know what anyone or i am even talking abuot now. when i posted my original post all i was trying to do was compliment her and say i was disappointed at that one tournament/clinic thing(whatever it was i dont know what to call it) and now everyone got mad at me and misinterpretted waht i said. so i got annoyed and then mad. and now everyone thinks im stupid and need anger management or something. why do i feel like everyone is getting mad at me when i was just trying to defend myself and clearify what i said?
btw i wasnt trying to insult her when i said she was neglectful. i was just saying what happened? its a fact. and i cant change what happened. and i cant really take back what i said in the previous post.
and i wasnt insulting u. i was just trying to make sure u were talking to me because ur post was not directly after mine and u didnt include a quote.
also when u asked if i knew all the facts or waht was going on with her. i dont know what facts u are talking abuot. and how would i know about her personal life? and im not sure what that has to do with it. im sorry im very confused. also im sorry if i offended anyone.

i tend to agree with Sum, Sonia is not only an amazing lax player who rips it up whenever she steps foot onto the field... she is also one of the most genuine people iive ever met! i think ljlax has made it clear that she wasnt trying to take anything away from Son being awesome, just maybe that one time was a bit disappointing. but hey, hopefulyl u get another chance to get coached by her in the future, and then you will see how much you can learn from her! so just to clarify... we all think sonia judd is AMAZING!!! (well at least i do anyway!)

Nah, we feel ya on that one. Everyone has their days. Next time around will hopefully go better.
Anyway, to STAY ON TOPIC I think that BU's Alyssa Trudel is also really good. I lost touch with her a while ago but I think she's still a really good player and I'm pretty sure BU is still doing well this season.
