Yo, my offense is struggling and i have been searching for some ways to strengthen it. Today I set them up in a 4 person diamond (one behind the goal, one right, one left, and one up top) with two players in the middle. The two players inside picked for each other. This worked better than our usual offense.

Anyway, this former o-lineman came out to practice today and was interested in playing. He was about 5'11" and 300 pounds. Yes, that's right - 300 pounds. Our defense is stacked so we don't need help there. I figure that he might work well as a crease attackman, especially in the offensive scheme i mentioned above. I used to play defense in high school and played against some fat crease attackman. They are hard to guard because they are so big. Especially when they are double your weight.

I want to know
*what do you think of this idea
*do you have any experience with a big crease attackman
*do you have any suggestions or recommendations regarding this idea

Thanks.

We have one... problem occurs during riding.... The set you described is a 1-4-1... Also, one of our favorites... Works well if your offense is strong at dodging, or you like feeding from behind.... If you need a spark, do it...

Creaseman is only going to work if he has great hands. We have a guy who is no threat to dodge or rip and outside shot but he is outstanding on the crease. As Coach said, riding becomes a problem because of an extreme lack of mobility in some cases. If he's a scoring machine, I think the lack of mobility can be adjusted for but if he's not, I would nix the idea and teach his huge mass to play goalie.

You could have him work X and shove his way up for an inside roll. It really depends on if he's a mobile 300 lbs or just some fat kid who wants to play

If you run an off ball pick 1-4-1 the dodging is less important and you can just let him sit his butt on the crease and punish people with his frame setting picks. My team doesnt have the most talent in the world, but we have a few finishers and a few shooters, and this system works quite well. Just have your wings run in and run out to create confusion and let him work his pick magic.

Off ball picks are great, but in a 1-4-1, they do not tend to be as effective. If the ball is at X a double pick up top works fairly well, but a sagged in defense that steps to every pass makes it tough to set a pick well enough to create space... The 1-4-1 is designed for teams that can dodge and shoot, all you have to do is draw a slide (which is a long slide from adjacent, and an obvious slide from the crease). If the men on the outside can't dodge, they better be good at pushing their way to the cage, or the ball will only move around the outside and the offense will be stagnant....
