Prevent unauthorized duplication of cds...

So, I bought a cd wednesday and after I am listening to it on my way home from Best Buy I notice on the back of the case it says

"This disc contains digital media management designed to ensure you have an authentic, original cd and to prevent unauthorized duplication. It is designed to play on cd audio players and dvd players"

Well, I didn't think anything of it and I when I try getting the songs on to Itunes it wont. So after a day or two I tried it again, and this time Itunes was closed, and a new screen came up. Gave the options of copy to PC and burn cd. So I copy to pc and the songs are under winamp, or windows media player. Click to open with Itunes but that doesn't work. I try the burn to a cd option, and burn to a cd, and put the newly burned cd in, and it opens in Itunes, but all the songs are skipping, and I try just the cd and all the songs are skipping. I try burining the files that have been copied to my computer and it says I need some license to perfrom this function...

Now I am very angry, since I mainly use Itunes and having to keep opening up a new player should have to happen, not cause I am lazy, just I shouldnt have to do that. Also, I would want this on my Ipod as well, and by not allowing me to use it in Itunes... :banghead:


This isnt even a huge label, I was surprised when I found this out...I am guessing no one can really help but I think it was worth a shot and to warn everyone...

Does it give you an option to get the licenses you need? Something like taht happened to me and I just clicked get licenses adn it never came up again.

No, it says "Windows Media Player Error Message Help" and it says something about posting the question to someone... It looks like a forum, but not to many responses to each, I will try that out...

yes, that is very "ghettofied". Only throwing the disc around doesnt solve my problem...even though I did that to my burned copy of it. I've tried find more info about the legal stuff but no luck, but what makes me mad is if I bought it and it knows it is the original copy why does it say something about legal crap...agh, I just want it on Itunes, I am not going to burn it for money!!!

well I use an application to easily convert wma files to mp3, but its a mac application. It's called easywma. you can try to find it, but I'm betting it won't work for windows. If I'm completely wrong in what I'm advising, which is to get a wma>mp3 conversion app., then sorry. I'm wicked tired.

As in don't use iTunes, WMP, etc. to rip. use that guide.

Honestly. Its 100 times better audio wise to rip using that, also sometimes bypasses security.

I like the quality EAC provides, but then your CDs end up taking alot of room on your pod

Eh, I just rip from EAC at 192 kbps, because that's high enough quality for an MP3 that I can't tell the difference. But EAC is fast and great, and I'd use it over any ripper, ever. Ephpod recommends it for ripping CD's.
