wood shafts are definitly better than aluminium, but....

... the box db803 and gorilla 7000 triax and also stx box impact are better than wood, they are fairly light, and stick handle wicked!!!!!

the pics do not reflect much on how pinched that razer really is compared to a new one...

and the triton is really about ball and a half wide at the scoop, just like the stx powerplay box head.....

i got one but ive got to take pictures of it, the head is pinched to small but in my case im lovin it will im usin it. its a stx proton and its pinched to like 4 inches. Sooo acurate but not alowed to use it. my other head is a stx sniper i think its killer i have that new mini mesh stuff in it right now and my own style of shooting strings. alright im out later ill get them off tommorow some time

Cool, you should figure out a way that that proton won't trap the ball and then it'll be legal dude, the triton is like that, the throat rubs the ball at the very bottom and the sidewall string at the very bottom wears out fast cuz of it, but since it doesn't actually trap the ball, it's leagal.... in box lax

I was woundering about the legality of pinching the stick. What do you have to keep to make it legal? What effects does it have? I know it will make it more accurate and give you more control but what are some of the other things? It will make the stick weaker but I don't know how much weaker it will be or if there are any other effects that I should know about.

Nowadays, the new heads don't really get weaker, you may notice it gets a little softer, but if you pinch over the stovetop it'll be safer and won't mess up, you just may have to repeat 2/3 times to finally get it....

it gives awesome control, and for some sticks like my razer, it was to get rid of ball rattle..

Looking at my cyber, I don't think I should pinch it. I would only be able to get a cm or 2 without giving up being able to catch the ball. Would the cm or 2 be worth pinching the stick?

if so it probably came with brine's pinch on it (they do that for canada products due to box preferences)

so if it seems pinched already don't touch it, i pinch cuz i hate wide heads, pinched throats and rounded scoops are my thing, if your cyber is what you like why chnage it?

I did buy it in Canada. I just wanted to know if it was worth pinching for so little. I don't know how much of a pinch makes a diference. I am still thinking of pinching near the U string because that is where the ball sits and pinching would keep it from bouncing around as much.
As for the shaft stuff earlier, I can't stand wood. It's just too heavy. I have Titanium. I know it's an alloy but I don't know the numbers. It was under $70 so I got it to replace the Aluminum my stick came with.

well, so many ppl have huge gaps betwen their string and complain that they mess up and stuff, i expiremented by just filling up the top and leaving them loose, and it worked, they are sooo slacked that they'll never hook and allow the deepest pocket,
rather than have just 3 spaced out that'll not guide the ball....

...do you sorta get what i mean, it worked for me on my first stick, and i've gone trational and done others, but that style suits me best...

PS by the way i only have 4/5 on the razer, the 6 thing was a trial for one practice...

funny you say that i get bored sometimes na dstring that wiz for fun i had all the van o'banion pockets from stylinstrings.com on there at one point... but then i did the corner/perfedct pocket.... used the mesh from a mini stick cuz it was narrower...i've never thrown with it and it isn't even on anymore...LOL... i pinched it really narrow and strung it tradi!

I have no idea how deep my pocket is, but all I know is that in the right hands, (in field) the ball is fairly hard to know loose.

lent to a team mate who wanted to try my stick for midi, picked the ball up and ran by 2-3 guys who kept hitting at the stick, says the ball didn't pop out, and was in love with it for the time being

I'm a slow runner, so posession is key 4 me....

that head that has canada on it, we strung and dyed one beacause it was a cheaper head and it came out awesome we put electrical tape over the canada after dyeing it yellow and than we used the hot glue method over yellow then black over top of that, it was crazy but we never used the head in the game but the string job was the best with a actual hornet looking figure on it, it took my freind like four hours to try and figure out how to put tape on it and dye it in a way that the dye wouldnt leak through the tape and ruin the figure. even though the hornet is not very detailed it still looked pretty cool.

Go people who cant run! I can cradle pretty well. During one game i was put up against the boards by two guys while running at the net and they both tried to got the ball from me. I pushed my way out and almost scored... pretty crazy

Yup, the deep pockets and narrow throats are good because they provide an accurate shot. However, it's harder to catch the ball since the meshed space is reduced. It's also harder to have a one-time shot because of the deep pocket. If you specialize in one-time shots, then keep your pocket shallow, but not too shallow.

I don't think it's only the Canadian players who like the deep pockets and narrow throats in their sticks. I believe that players from both Canada and the United States like to have those 2 qualities because it obviously improves their game to some extent. But it's basically just a personal preference, that's all.

Yeah, I recommend that lax players use those narrow throated Deuce heads since they provide a more accurate shot than the wider throated ones. But it's all about what players prefer. It's a good thing there are different head styles for different players. The only thing that MAY be a problem with the Deuce heads is that they're more difficult to catch the ball with since the pocket is smaller despite that it provides better shots.

not to mention players with deuce/evo pro/e3 style heads can pretty much have one head for box lax and field now....

with that pinch I can have a stick for everything....I can deal witht he wide scoop, I actually get more loosies than when I had super narrow mohawks and tritons in the scoop...

I have a revo pro and e3 this season and I must say I like what brine has done, the repinched/rescooped and toughened up the edge which I used to hate because the snapped so easy and had an odd shape in box lax...BUt noe the e3 has withstood much abuse and scored nice goals....

Revo pro has a natural hook that occurs due to a design flaw....Many players I know who ave them have had a tough time trying to tame the pocket for decent overhand shots....it is almost as if the scoop is too forward compared to the offset and the curved hook design guides the ball to hit off the scoop....

I had to change to an e3 because this was really getting on my nerves....

About deep-bag whipsticks - nothing could touch my Guru before I fixed it.
Useless, but fun. It's since been restrung and has good hold, but only whips a bit too much. Before though, all you could do was little flick passes or shots. If you wound up and took a hard shot, the ball was usually still be in the pocket when the head hit the ground on the follow-through,. If you didn't hit the ground, it really did shoot backwards! Geez, on the reach back, You could point it straight at the ground and it would still whip!

Just go to the Stick doctors forum, there like 5 tutorials how to pinch a head... A quick run through of what i do is tie a string around to how i want it, boil some water so its insanley hott, put it in for 3 minutes, flip it over for three mintues, then take it out and leave it in the freezer over night... Some people dont like this method but its always worked for me and i know lots of people use it...

Also have a green (not dyed, original color) MD, the stiffest head ever made - sheer kryptonite married to dolomite! The Power Play is strung with Monster Mesh. Sell or trade. that my friend is a lovely looking lacrosse stick

and guy above me you have some very nice looking sticks there. i especially like the savage( i think ) with the tradiional and the x2 looks damn nice to. and does the intrepid have goalie mesh in it? nice job all around

I just picked up a Gait Asylum at Lax Shack Ptbo. They are available pre pinched. Mine is just barely legal, out of the box so to speak. Sweet head, I'm just trying to figure out how to string it. It came soft mesh, but I promised the owner I'd bring it back traditional or custom.

Added an Orange Crusher and begining to wonder whether or not it might have to be restrung mesh as it's a tight pinch. Sight lines for the leathers are a little tight. :banghead:

it was more pinched but my dad decided he would put all my lax stuff in the car a couple of hours before practice on a very hot summer day so alot of un-pinching occured.

i also have a piched mohawk mission which i will post after im done dyeing/ stringing it.

it is suppose to be the same rules as field but if the ball cant come out its not legal
the dept is also a factor but almost nobody calls it

I don't think may people actually measure when they are pinching because nobody really calls illegal sticks becuase all coaches know all teams have a few players with illegal sticks, and if you call another team they will call you right back.
