I am in the process of baking a head right now, and was just wondering, about how long should I keep it in before I let it cool?

It depends on what temperature the oven is set to, but just keep checking until it's pliable enough for you to get a good pinch on it.

So I just finished baking my head. Before is an unpinched X2, after is the same head pinched. Its my first pinching job, so tell me what you think, and if you think I should pinch it some more or less.

Looks good. As long as it's legal, which it seems to be.

Yeah, its legal. I made sure by keeping a cut down wooden spoon in the top when I baked it and let it cool. Exactly 6.5 inches.

Wow that looks really really nice. It looks like an all new version of an X2, duh, good job.

Ahh, you just aren't man enough to withstand the awesomeness of tigerprint. Well, maybe not, but I like it, so whatever.

When I pinched my edge, I wrap a lacrosse ball in tin foil a couple of times over, and then put it in the throat of the head. Then I do the same to another ball, and put it in the middle of the head. I then pinch the head with heavy duty Zip-Ties as tight as they will go. I also put a pencil at the scoop of the head and measure it so it is exactly 6.5". I then bake the head at 350 for 6 minutes. Then I put it in the sink (which is full of snow and water, making it extremely cold) and let it cool off for five minutes or so. Then I bake it again for another 6 minutes, and then put it in the freezer overnight. It will open up just a tiny tiny bit, so everything is 100% legal on the stick, but there is only about 1/8" clearance in the middle of the stick for the ball to come out, but the scoop is 6.5"

You don't want to cool it off like that. When stuff goes through rapid temperature shifts like that, it severely weakens them.

Lol ya im glad u made it 6.5, i baked mine and its 6.25 and its absolutly horrible the balll gets stuck in the head when i throw it.

NIce job. I pinched my proton and it looks almost exactly like that.

I'm sure it does weaken it, but otherwise how do you deal with the stick expansion?

boiling water, throw the head in for 10 minutes, pull out and rinse with garden hose. i pinched a brine radius (sorry its at school) the ball just barely passed by the sidewall strings(the ones in the sidewall holes) to recieve a pass.

I find the boiling water meathod so much easier than the oven meathod and is less likely to melt your head. I have heard of people using the microwave too, but I doubt that would be very good for either the head or the microwave

i used the mircowave once. let me say that again "once". melted the plastic on the bottom of the side wall. and it was only in for like 25 seconds.

Hey, I ended up pinching it a little more before I gave it to my stringing guy. I will post pics once I get it back on sunday.

Can you bake a head to try and remove pinch? My brothers G-force is WAY to pinched...is there anyway to remove it?

im pretty sure you can boil it and put in something wider than the pinch of the head and itll make it bigger

Looks pretty sick. Plus I like the Ipod backround lol. A teammate has a pinched x2 and gets sweet handling with it.

Here is the final version, I am done pinching it, and this is the stringing that I am going to keep on it. Its a bit illegal right now, because of the sidewall strings and the fact that the mesh is really thick on the sides, the ball gets stuck. But once its broken in, it should be fine.

That looks really good, if you look at it the pinch looks a lot like a nitrous.

I have the problem that when i pinch, the top and bottom of the sidewalls bend inwards. I wrap string around and boil it. Anyone have suggestions of what i should do instead? Im gonna pinch my proton in the coming week and didnt want to have that problem again.

intead of wrapping the string around the sidewalls, string it back and forth through the holes. I had the same problem with my proton.
