hey my team rents the local park district turf soccer field for practice and games. There is different colored turf for the lines so there is no paint on the field. any idea how we can get lines on the field? if you paint it will it eventually come off?(so the park district soccer teams dont have their field ruined)thanks for the help.

Maybe use chalk? I'm not really seeing why you can't paint it then just have the grass cut though.

I would think chalk would work just fine...

the field is outdoors so my main quiestion is if we paint it, using field paint like you would do with grass fields, will the paint be permanent of eventually wear off. (in this scenario we want it to wear off)

the turf field i use is a football, soccer, and lacrosse field. the soccer lines are yellow, football white, and lacrosse blue. so theres 3219651986513287 lines on the field, but we only pay atttention to the blue and were fine.

you could use rope.. no joke.. just lie a peice of rope or bright colored string around the edge of the field with cones on the corners/midlines.

I made a mistake at our last game on a field with too many lines. I thought I had an extra couple of yards off to the side, when the refs blows the whistle that I'm out.

there are already the lines for soccer so i guess the main lines we need are the crease lines and a restraining line. anyone know if a soccer field is the same size as a lacrosse field? field dimensions and stuff is just about the the only lax-related topic i dont know much of.

We play several games on turf in the off-season and can't put anything on the field. But we get to play in the winter so here's what we do....
Creative football/soccer field use for lacrosse
50 yard line - midfield
30 yard line - defensive restraining lines (put cones on the sideline so you can tell when you running downfield)
Goals placed on the 10 yard line
soccer field sideline for out of bounds
Bottom of the football numbers for the outside of the attack box (actual size is only about a yard more difference)
Either use the back of the football endzone (5 yards to far) or put tape down halfway through the endzone
The only real problem is the crease. If the soccer lines are drawn, you should be able to use the arc at the top of the soccer box in front of the goal. But you won't have anything behind the goal.

By the way, if you are allow to temporarily paint the field, talk to your local school or college. There are water based paints they should be familiar with that you can put on the field and wash it off with a power hose afterwards.

what type of turf is it. Is it speed turf. If so then you should be able to use chalk cause it would wash off. Im thinking it would be speed turf if its outside. The only problem would be if it rains during a game.

I play for the UNLV club team. We play our games on a turf field with football lines on it in white. We do our lines with bright red duct tape. We use the football markings for side and endlines.
So we do a solid midline, restraining lines, and creases. For the wing restraining lines, we use 1 yard dashed lines. This works quite well. By about halftime, some of the tape is starting to come up, but the lines are still visible and can be easily repaired. After the game, you pull up the tape and throw it away.

If it's outdoors, I've heard that powdered soap works alright. If it's that nexturf, some teams just use the little rubber pellets to line the field in a chalker. Tape'll work fine as well. The best is the water-soluble paint though, unless you're playing in the rain.

having dealt with this for ten years in the 80's (indoor soccer)...it totally depends on what type of plastic the turf fibers are made of...
It the fibers are nylon, paint will absorb into them and almost never come off...
If it is polypropelyne, the paint just sits on the surface, without much adherence..and will wear off with about 15-20 hours of use...assuming there is any foot wear over the lines. You can also use a carpet brush to "scrub" the lines off.
With polypropelyne fiber carpets, any paint will work equally well in endurance quality. The most expensive "traffic" paint, used to put lines on parking lots, for example, will only last slightly longer than the cheapest bargain brand.
Your best bet is to get permission to paint the "lacrosse lines" on with a different color paint than the soccer lines. You could also point out that you are trying to paint a minimum number of "extra" lines on the soccer field when setting it up for lacrosse.
and hey, dudes..when did "artificial playing surfaces" come to be generically called "turf." Athletic Turf Magazine, whose title refers to natural grass playing surface development and maintenance, will be surprised...

usa a water based spay paint. Our team uses that on both of our turf fields. Is washes off after about 5 games, if it rains. Then just repaint it after it starts to fade.

My team uses cones but it really sucks. I'll be playing D and then accidently make are crease smaller.
