Stony Brook is way underrated. They should make an appearance in the top 20 this week for what may be the first time ever. Nice developing program.

Coaches poll has them at 18th.
Everyone has talked about it, but finaly think we have started to see true parity in college lacrosse. Seems like no team is safe this year. Very exciting!

I guess this goes back to the debate on what poll is the one to put stock in. IL has them as an honorable mention, Laxpower at #18, Newsday at #15. I guess since this is IL's site we'll defer to their rankings? Anyway, nice win for the Stony Brook program, that to many fans of the sport has slid in under the radar a bit.
I spoke quite a bit about parity at the beginning of the year (and I apologize in advance for the rant that will follow my message at some point from HBMedic) and I am here to say "parity is here". The signs of it were obvious the past few years with the emergence of teams like Albany and Binghamton and Manhattan, who grabbed attention on the national stage. As the depth of available talent has grown, through the increasing numbers of youth programs available, so has parity. Those players from non traditional lacrosse areas or players who were overlooked in the recruiting process now are being discovered and getting the opportunity to play in some of these emerging programs. It certainly appears that the number of quality players has finally caught up to and passed the number of slots avialable at traditional lax powerhouses and those players not going to traditional lax powers are finding their way elsewhere. And I think parity can only help this sport. As the talent level equals out, it will add some spice and excitement to the sport to the more casual or new watcher or player of the sport. Now it won't be a lock who you will see on Memorial Day weekend.
From a players standpoint, I think its good that a player who doesn't get an offer from one of the big 6 or 7 traditional powers now can go to a program and have the feeling of knowing he has a better, more legit chance to get to the national stage and compete with the traditional lax powers. Parity is a win/win for everyone.

Stony Brook is a solid team and right on the cusp of being ranked in the media poll... But to piggy-back off something SDS said... all these upsets does help the sport. The more we see of this, the better it is for the sport.
Personally, I thought Dartmouth was a top-15 caliber team, so I was surprised when they struggled early. Have to wonder what this means for both teams.

Friend was at the game...says Dartmouth owes a big thank you to their keeper...making more than a few 1 on 1 point blank saves...This is intriguing...This wil definately make the Ivy league interesting...makes PU's last 3 games seem even tougher...
