i just played my first game on turf tonight, and i got knocked down more than any other kid. on each leg i have a huge turf burn that stings just sitting. i can't believe how much turf sucks. anybody else hate turf?

I like it, its sooo fast you just have to deal with the turf burn

That new turf stuff rocks however (field turf or other derivatives). The only thing is rubber pellets can get in your shoe. I think I saw an NFL game last week where the guy is about to go into the end zone and a huge cloud of rubber pellets fly into him, hehe.

There is some special kind of tape that you can buy that you put on your elbows and knees to avoid turf burn that was originally designed for football players. Unfortunately I have no idea how you could get some.........

this turf junk at one of the places i play indoor is kinda cool, but with the rubber pellets in it my shoes get filled with that stuff. that gets annoying but other than that i like it better than the original type of turf

The old turf is horrible, you dive or get knocked down you've got turf burns. Plus the ball rolls way to fast...the new stuff is way better

my feild has the new turf, we just got it redone. The new turf is somewhat like real grass except for the rubber pellets, and on shots sometimes the rubber shoots up in your face. to keep the number of pellets down in your shoes wear higher shoes.

I hate the old turf, I bad burns all over my legs all the time when I used to play indoor.

I love turf. The new stuff is the best of course. I used to get wicked turf burn because I fell all the time but it's all good now.

I don't like grass just because if it is not a perfect field it's annoying.

I love the turf. It doesn't hurt near as much when you land. I have never had turf burn and I've slid quite a bit. I'm the smallest player on the team and for that reason, I spend a lot of time getting hit.

amen to this topic..... astro turf sucks..... i get torn apart, and then the next week re torn apart. and theres no use in wearing long socks, cause they get all bloody and torn up.....

laxattack

i love all forms of turf. although the ball never stops on astro turf, it is such a faster pace than any other surface.

the stuff you guys are calling new turf is called articial grass
the kind with like indivudal blades and the rubber pellets
that stuff rocks
the old turf, the kind more like carpet that just sucks

LSM

that rubber stuff is amazing.. i played on it last season at cushing (ever heard of it, they suck but nice facilities)..very nice

Dan
11-23-2003, 10:08 PM
yeah, turf's fast for running, but there is no control in the game. everything happens lighting fast, and nobody holds on to the ball. i know you think that's the way it's supposed to be, but it was chaos, and nobody knew what they were doing. awful, i tell you, awful

DrDetroit

our school has it and it is becoming quite popular in michigan.

yeah to decrease the pellets in your shoes.... i tape one of my ankles and notice one always had pellets the other none...

so tape over the laces!!!! like when you wrap you foot and ankle in football!!!!

the old turf is brutal!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i kinda like turf because it gives cushinig if you slip but as far as fast action control it isn't good ummkay. with the bounce factor it doesn't lead anything to the amagination.

grass is the best. old astro turf destroys your knees and ankles. new turf is annoying because of all the pelets and the fact that it gets sooooo hot in the summer. i also dont think new turf is that safe. ive seen two kids tear ACL's on it

Twist
11-24-2003, 02:03 PM
You are all little girls.

Wah, it's turf burns. Torn ACL's are the big deal..

Ask mommy to buy you a box of straws this christmas so you can suck it up..

I love all kinds of turf. Old turf/NexTurf, and all variations.

dude turf is the best- its fast and easier to run on and bounce shots and passes work awesome -its worth the occassional burn

Lax4Ever
11-25-2003, 01:19 PM
I found the concrete to be a lot quicker than the turf. Bounce passes don't work quite as well but you don't even notice after you play for a while. The concrete rips the hell out of my legs so I would rather stick to the turf.

Dan

twist, have you ever gotten a turf burn, or are you just telling me to suck it up with no basis for it?

not to be mean but i think the guy above me is hilarious, hes complaining about turf burn when he has the quote "scars are tattoos with better stories" on his profile. kinda interesting.

Paul_Gait_RULZ
11-25-2003, 03:37 PM
real grass is slow, the faster the game the better for me!!!!!

i like quick lax!!!!

slow lax bloahs!!!!

concrete is the real deal...LOL...box lax...LOL

no i do like grass for one thing...tricky bouncers on goalies!!!!!

SullyLax

i like grass. its unpredictable, original, and thats how the game was meant to be played.

Paul_Gait_RULZ
11-25-2003, 03:50 PM
sure, but a good fast game of lax was how it was meant to be played to, not to mention violently!!!!!!

he's talkin to me, i know him

but that other guy was right...you ***** about turf burn and then ur sig is all about 'scars are tatoos with better stories'

Dan
11-25-2003, 04:48 PM
well, the one scar i got doesn't hurt. i put a hatchet in my leg, yada yada yada, i have i scar. and it didn't hurt. my other point is that turf doesn't leave a scar, it leaves a freaking huge scab that lasts for a few months because i can't stop picking them. but it hasn't completely scabbed yet.

and my signature insults tattoos, because they're pointless and the story would be "i went to the tattoo parlor and they drew on me" whereas a scar can be a hilarious story to a tragic, harrowing story of a brave man on a mission.

BuckWyld
11-25-2003, 04:51 PM
what the hell is wrong with getting a tattoo? Tattoos dont need stories and they have a point the point is to make your body look the way you want it to.

Dan

tattoos shmattoos. if you wanna argue with me on my signature, do it somewhere else. this is about turf.

I heard from some turf management major at college that they're supposed to water it (yes, water it) to keep the pellets from being so bad, I don't think I've ever seen that done though. Yeah on old turf a shot bounced off the top of the crease was great, but it's too easy to get hurt on it, I pulled my groin/inner leg just cause it was so inflexible, vive la field turf :P

I'm a fan of the turf becuz of its perfectness and u can scoop the ball reel nice and evrything. Turf burns = no big deal get over it. Grass is good to tho i just hate wen u hit a divot on a scoop and it screws u all up.

let's be a little kinder. not all of us are tough skinned beastly men than can withstand turf burns. my point is that i'm i don't like turf. my state of wussiness was not an issue here. i still played out the whole game without question, it's not like i cared then. i just like showing off wounds. (that's why i wore shorts when it was 35 degrees out.)
