I was playing in a tourni and some kid lined up for a face off right infront of me because he was left handed so we were both to the left of MY stick.. not sure but isn't that illegal because he has to be to the left of his stick? The ref let it go the whole game.
Just wondering but a kid clamped before i could jump it so i sort of slide my foot under his stick and kicked it out. I wasn't called once but i was called for it a different time. Whats the rule on this.

I find it very hard to believe that a ref allowed that. Every part of a face-off man MUST, I repeat MUST, be to the left of the throat of his crosse, including his legs, hands and head. Either you're making this up, or the ref was an imposter (LaxRef's kid brother playing a goofy joke??). Did your coach say anything? Are you pulling our legs here? This is the same as telling us every time your team scored, they DEDUCTED a point from your goal total.

Well your coach has to learn the rules so he can stand up for you. This is absurd.

Forget the coach knowing the rule, this is all on the official. Its the officials responsibility to get it right.

True, the officials should get something as simple as this correct. However, in NFHS, the coach can call for a coaches conference to get it donne correctly.

Sounds illegal for the reasons already cited.
Every time I've seen a left-hander take field faceoffs, they've done it almost with their back to the faceoff line, not directly in front of the other guy. It can work if the guy's good, but it has to be a disadvantage.
Conversely Box (not NLL) faceoffs can be taken left handed with only a tiny disadvantage
