change speed, come into the dodge half/three quarter speed but sprint out of it. also dont try to make like 5 little dodges, just 1 quick move.

disagree. Always dodge full speed, slowing down only helps your defender. Watch Mark Millon dodge as an great example and you should see why.

What he's saying is accelerate out of the dodge. Most good dodgers vary their speeds. For instance, go 80% into a split dodge, and 100% out of it when you split. The change of pace makes it tough for defenders to get a bead on you, and works wonders. It is one of the most underused things in sport.

We understand the concept of varying speeds. I think Royce was suggesting that you don't want to slow way down. Stopping your feet is the worst thing you can do when dodging.. You have to pull your defender out, make one quick move and go; if nothing is there, you must pull the ball out and don't force it.. too many young players seem to think the way to score is through multiple dodges. Once you dodge one man, get rid of the ball, shoot it or pass it. if you try to go crazy and keep on dodging, you're toast.

Yeah the way I read it was I thought he wanted to have you start off at a certain speed, slow down into the dodge and then accelerate again. If you start up at a certain speed and don't stop accelerating like CoachK said then that was what I was going for.

Changing speeds is very important, but I think the most crucial part of dodging is that you need to SELL it. You have to make your defender think you're going to do one thing, and then turn around and do something else. If you just run at your defender and turn, then he's going to make you look like a retard.
If you're split dodging, make sure you take a big step to your dominant side to sell your defender into thinking you're going to run that way, then stop short, switch hands and bullet off your other side.
