I play for one of the liberty district teams and I was wondering if everyone could list their opinion of the top two guys at each team in the liberty district, out of curiousity.

Thanks.

personally i think robinson westfield and madison have been the biggest disappointment of the year. granted we knew that oakton and woodson back to back was going to be a tough start to the year but that wasnt the showing i was anticipating. and westfield without royster for a month maybe two is going to have a hard run come district playoff time. on the flip side yorktown is a big surprise and i would like to see them up on the laxworld poll by the end of the year

The parity is kind of ugly right now.
Out of 29 teams in the region 12 have 0 or 1 win ! :imparied:

Ever year the talent goes up and down based on who graduated etc …
But there are some programs you just expect to reload not rebuild.

Robinson, Westfield, and Madison all fall under those programs.

Robinson still has a chance to turn it around and win there district.
But it is hard to call them an elite team now after getting waxed by Oakton & Woodson.
They can still run the table and end up 8-2. :agree:

Westfield had hi hopes going into with season with Royster & Nolan back and with the hiring of ex-Centreville Coach Gary Malm and Woodson assistant Kevin Quinn to replace Ralph Alexander.
But injuries and the one of the toughest schedules in the region could spell doom.
They too can get healthy and be a threat come May … but only time will tell. :naughty:

Madison has been up and down the past few years based on talent but has always competed for a top 3 spot in the Liberty.
But with the rise of McLean & Fairfax that could end up on the outside looking in this season for the first time in a long time.
Is the success of there Baseball team hurting the Lacrosse team and it's number of athlete's ?

Good luck with Woodson on Monday … I hope you get the W and send the battle for the Liberty into an all out fog fight ! :guns:

Madison - Pulled off a close one vs Fairfax … can they hold them off for the #4 seed.
Fairfax - 4 straight wins … then 2 straight loses … can they get back on the right track and make regionals ?

Concorde - Final game may decide seeding
Oakton - Continue there district win streak … will be tested during the last week vs Landon, St. Albans, & Westfield.
Westfield - #1 Strength of Schedule has meant a slow start … but when health they are dangerous.
Chantilly - Big win over TJ could be a sign of things to come.
TJ - Always heat up come playoffs … still a team to watch.
Herndon - Will battle for the #4 seed … might come down to the final came vs Chantilly

National - Looks headed to a rematch between Mount Vernon & Yorktown
Mount Vernon - District favorite is back again and strong as ever.

The playoffs started last night … things are already heating up !!! :hot:

Patriot District - The Patriot has the most potential for upset.
#1 W. Springfield has a pretty clear ride to the final.

But the rematch between #2 Lake Braddock & #3 Robinson should be battle. :beard:
*LB young offense is improving … Robinsons team is on the rebound.

Prediction - #1 W. Springfield vs #3 Robinson :WTF:

Liberty District - The deepest district in the region will fight it out for the top two spots.
#4 Madison vs #5 Fairfax could go either way. Loser is out of regionals. :nahya:
Can #3 McLean play 4 qtr's vs #2 Langley this time ?

Prediction - #1 Woodson vs #2 Langley

National District - Stuart is having the best season in it's history. :worship:
Look like it is headed to a rematch from last year.

Prediction - #1 Mt. Vernon vs #2 Yorktown

Concorde District - For the first time in 4 years Oakton comes in with a district lose.

#4 Jefferson vs #5 Herndon will be a battle. Loser is out of regionals. :wow:
With Royster's return it looks like it is headed to a rematch from last year.

Prediction - #1 Westfield vs #2 Oakton

Anyone else catch the National District Playoff Games last night?

Clearly Mt. Vernon was too talented for Stuart. Stuart is way over-rated in the division and never had a chance.

The second game was definitely one to watch.

Looked like Yorktown was completely outcoached by Falls Church. I guess the first time they played each other the score was 12-2 or something in favor of Yorktown.

The final score last night 8-7 Yorktown. They got lucky. Falls Church out played them, had a better game plan, and knew what they we doing in general. Seemed like Yorktown was clueless on team offense and team defense. They either didn't adjust or didn't know how to adjust to how Falls Church approached the game.

Props to the Falls Church team and coaches. Tough loss.

In my opinion, Falls Church was the better lacrosse TEAM.

Patriot
Final
#1 West Springfield vs #3 Robinson
Date/Time: Tues at Robinson at 7pm
Previous Score: 15-14 West Springfield
Robinson is back again in the District final … but not as the #1 seed !
Can West Springfield get its 2nd ever win over Robinson in the final ?
Or will Robinson stay hot at home and win it’s unprecedented 13th District title ?
Prediction: Robinson completes the turn around and looks ready for regionals.

Liberty
Final
#1 Woodson vs #2 Langley
Date/Time: Tues at Lee at 6pm
Previous Score: 11-4 Woodson
A rematch from ’04 that everyone predicted.
The re-match everyone wanted to see.
Can Woodson make a statement to the region by beating Langley again ?
Or will Langley pull an upset like they did in ’03 in the district final ?
Prediction: Woodson uses it stellar defense to shutdown Langley’s fast break offense for the win.

Concorde
Final
#1 Westfield vs #2 Oakton
Date/Time: Tues at Westfield at 5:30pm
Previous Score: 9-8 Westfield
A rematch from ’04 that everyone predicted.
Oakton is back again in the District final … but not as the #1 seed !
Can Westfield build on there 9-8 upset over Oakton and get a 2nd win at home for the district title ?
Or will Oakton use there first district lose since 2000 as motivation for a 5th straight district title ?
Prediction: Oakton pulls out a hard fought battle to revenge its early season lose.

National
Final
#1 Mount Vernon vs #2 Yorktown
Date/Time: Mon at Edison at 7pm
Previous Score: 12-7 Mount Vernon
A rematch from ’04 that everyone predicted.
Can Mount Vernon win the National again extended there district win streak ?
Or will Yorktown pull the upset after almost over looking Falls Church in the semi’s ?
Prediction: Mount Vernon keeps the streak going and looks ready for TC Williams.

Good luck !

Does anyone know what schools will be in what districts next year? Cuz i think that we (tj) are moving to the liberty. Also, hope our varsity will do better next year, theyll be back to their original jv team that beat oakton. And both our best and second best middies should be back in playing condition by next year(JR Carr and Matt Wong both got broken bones playing against MT Vernon). I think Matt will be ready by football season, though. He's our quarterback, and one of the best in the state.

History is Made !!!
Correct me if I am wrong but this is the first year that two National teams will be playing in the Elite 8.
Congratulations to Mount Vernon & Falls Church !

No Sweeps !!!
Each of the district matchups split. (Patriot vs National & Liberty vs Concorde)

Westfield 8, McLean 4
With the upset over Oakton and the win over McLean a healthy Westfield team looks tough to beat
Can Westfield revenge a regular season lose to Robinson ?

Robinson 23, Stuart 1
Another embarrassing blowout ... 23 goals don't just happen ! :thumbsdow
Robinson is on a roll but has a tough opponent next round in Westfield.

Woodson 15, TJ 1
Woodson sends a statement for this year and next with TJ joining the Liberty in 06.
Solomon scores 9 pts in the first half ... WOW !!!

Lake Braddock 10, Yorktown 7
Another National team with an impressive showing !!!
Did LB & AA Wade under estimate Yorktown ?

Falls Church 8, West Springfield 7
WOW ... huge win for Falls Church.
Tough way to end the season for West Springfield.

Oakton 12, Fairfax 4
Oakton sends a statement for this year and next with Fairfax joining the Concorde in 06.
How will Fairfax do next season after losing a great senior class ? (Britt, Brown, etc ...)

REMAINING SCHEDULE
05/25 Elite 8 - @ Higher Seed
06/2 Final 4 - @ Woodson at 6 & 8pm
*If Woodson is playing it may be moved because of Woodson Prom
06/04 Championship - @ Woodson at 3pm

TOP TO BOTTOM
Pat #1 Robinson vs Con #2 Westfield

Nat #1 Mount Vernon vs Lib #2 Langley

Con #1 Oakton vs Nat #3 Falls Church

Lib #1 Woodson vs Pat #3 Lake Braddock

MUST SEE GAMES
Pat #1 Robinson vs Con #2 Westfield
Lib #1 Woodson vs Pat #3 Lake Braddock

STORIES TO WATCH
- Can Oakton be the first ever team to 3PEAT ?
- Does Woodson have an advantage with the Final 4 & Championship at Woodson ?
- Who is going to be this years sleeper ? (Nat #3 Falls Church so far)
- Can 7 time Region Champ Robinson stay hot and make it to the Finals once again ?

MY FINAL 4
Pat #1 Robinson vs Lib #2 Langley
*Great match up ... Langley has a chance to make the championship
Con #1 Oakton vs Lib #1 Woodson
*Rematch from '04 … will be another instant classic

I hope I am. This was my first year, but I am really into lax. I am already signing up for the 3 madlax camps I can, plus perhaps camp at Johns Hopkins or the Univ. of MIchigan (we have another house there).

I also plan on working out plus doing some wallball, ground balls, etc daily.

Maddux, he's a great guy. gets real angry at some ref calls, but its understandable to me i'd say. i hear he's realllllllllllyyyyyy rich. i REALLY hope he stays around for next season, he really changed our season for the (very very very) better. i want to get the experience of being coached by him.

Is that the game that the goalie spazed out on some attack man ‘cause he got stick checked? Found a video on the net and trying to place it to which game it was. Looks like a bunch of kids from the white team battered a kid from the blue team. Found a news article that made it sounded like it was this game. Thanks for the info.

Returning ...
Robbie Maclay – Langley
Joe Dicerbo – Woodson
Robert Lee- Langley
Jonathan Mayberry- Woodson
Jake Plumb- Madison
Jake Oster - Marshall
Mac Hedrick - South Lakes

McLean who ...
They lost 12 seniors & 9 of 10 starters.
They will be lucky to make the regional tournament next year.

TJ ...
They have a good young team but lost there coach.
Should compete for the #3 & #4 seed in '06.

Liberty ...
Looks like another battle between Woodson & Langley.
Both must replace their best offensive player (Solomon & Blaustein)
And most of there defense (Goalies & Some Long Poles)
Both return solid offenses (2 starting attackmen & stud middie)

The real battle will be between TJ, Madsion, McLean, & Marshall for the #3 & #4 seeds.

And don't sleep on Stone Bridge who has a great youth feeder in Loudon.

laxg0alie
06-25-2005, 04:30 PM
The liberty district is going to be an offensive-based district next year. I think 6 or 7 of the 8 teams lost their starting goalies to graduation, which could make a huge difference as four of them were named to all-district teams and one was named honorable mention all-district. I'd put woodson in the number 1 seed throughout the season because of their ability to create plays without depending on a guy like solomon. langley, however, will continue to push woodson with their high powered offense.
