Uh...I've never seen somebody cradle with their bottom hand, unless they only have one hand on their stick and they're picking up a groundball or something.
I guess it's all preference, but you get infinitely better ball control by using your upperhand. You bottom hand should just be holding the stick in place.
Don't change the way you play just because other people are doing a certain thing. Play the way that is comfortable to you.

Who cares how cool they look. Cradling is about how you feel while doing it. Stick with whats comfortable and what works. Dont care about what everyone else is doing

Actualy you can cradel really well with your bottom hand, it allows you to to have a quicker release.. and a very strong power cradel, if you get used to it it can be nice to use when driving 2 handed.

Dont cradle with your bottom hand. First off its nasty. I hate it whenever i see someone cradling like that. Your bottom hand is supposed to be a guide when you are cradlng. I also think the ball doesnt stay in the stick very well when cradling like that.

Yeah, cradle with your top hand. You get better ball control. I've never seen anyone cradle with thier bottom hand.

It is soooo much easier with your top hand. You get infinitely more ball control as previous posters have said and you can take checks better.

I switch off. I push with top and pull with top then reverse. It works for me

The only time I cradle with my bottom hand is for fake passes and shots, which you can sell much easier by turning the stick with your bottom hand. It is useful for tricks and such as well. Other than that, stick to the top hand

That's the only reason I'd use my bottom hand and I do it very rarely at that.

Just do what works for you. Don't worry about what looks cool or nasty. I cradle with my top hand when I'm going righty and with my bottom hand when I'm going lefty. (still my right 'strong' hand doing the work) This has always worked for me and I'm pretty good lefty (weak hand). A lot of kids who have trouble going weak hand, I show them this and they can go both ways in no time. Probably something to do with right brain/left brain or somthing.

well its much better to use your upper hand cause if your lower hand gets hit and comes off the stick then you will only have your upper hand
practice cradiling with both hands so you can make the quick transition while running

Upper hand awlays needs to be the one used to cradle the bottom is used more just to stabilize the sitck for really hard cradling when going through a guy. Also as a middie One hand cradles are a most when running down the field with barely anyone on you or if your playing attack one hand cradling is a must. You have to use top hand for that

you twist your bottom hand on fakes?? what i was taught was to just snap your wrist and then use my head and shoulders so you can make a quick pass if you see an open man or something, basically taht a snap of the wrist is quicker than a full twist

Ok maybe a better way to describe how the lower-hand cradlers on my team are cradling is that they sort of "twirl" the stick, which is what made me think that it looks cool..

Don't worry about it.. they won't look too cool when they drop the ball..

if you mean they mainly cradle with top hand then every so often tho in one of those twist dealies with there bottom hand then that comes from having your stick with you at all times.. after a week or so you run of thigns to do besides just holding you stick so you start to naturally spin it

Yeah that's exactly what I meant, they usually crade with the top hand, but they throw in a twist here or there. I guess I'll just "hang out" with my stick more lol. I actually started to twirl it actually, trying to cradle like them ( I still primarilly use my top hand like I used to do).
Some kid on our team actually "twirls" it with his bottom hand as his main cradle, but he always drops it.

Another question about general cradling
When I cradle with two hands, I kinda have the stick roll off my hand a bit so the fingers are the only things gripping it for my top hand (and then they curl back etc). so i'm not cradling with my top hand like...GRABBING my stick. is that okay?
also for one handed cradling, is it ok for hte stick to roll to the fingers in my cradle, or should I be gripping it with my palm always on it?

I think that should be right, that's how I cradle anyways, and I had asked a senior on my HS team to show me how he cradles, and I think that's what he did.
I have a question about cradling too though,
I just started playing and during games and practise sessions, I usually see some experienced players cradle, and when they cradle, they look like they're spinning their sticks around real fast, but still have control of the ball.
My question is, is that cradling, or just spinning the ball, and how do you do that, because I can't seem to do it.
Thanks in advance.
