I've lost almost 30 pounds just from our lax season so far, and we're barely halfway through. All I can say is drink water, eat less, and just exercise. It's as simple as that. You just have to be dedicated and get it done.

hey i got a question, if i workout in the morning before i eat when im still on a fast, like at noonish morning when i wake up on the weekend. do i burn more FAT, than i would if i had eaten before? Like would this be a great way of loosing weight? Also if i lift weights before cardio, do i burn all my carbs and loose more calories better that way to? i have no problem with my weight im just wondering if my theories are correct

Working out to lose weight is mostly a waste of time.

Not eating before cardio can help, but you should have something with some fructose before hand to bring yourself out of the catabolic state you're in when you're asleep. Something like an apple would do. It should help you use your fat and muscle stores as energy, rather than a readily available food source.

How do you figure this. It will help a great deal. You will burn fat and when you lose fat you lose a lot of muscle. By working out you will keep the muscfle and your body will focus on fat as a source of energy.

yea, but im talkn worken out before cardio. because that way you use your carbs liften, then when you start running its like a drain of calories/fat, and not even calories if you havent eaten before hand.

Run...just plain out run...Everyday before practice we would run a lap around town 2.6 miles...then we would practice...I lost 15 pounds in 2 weeks...and have steadily lost since..ive been down 35 pounds since march 5th...so about 2 months and ive lost 35 pounds...

Not only will you be skinnier...you will be able to run faster, and longer...which is really important for lacrosse...

If you want to get muscle just get like 15 pounds barbells and lift with them everynite before bed...and crunches help too

Dude u just gotta do it. I've lost 45 pounds since November. You just have to stick with it and be dedicated. If you really wanna lose weight, dedication shouldn't be a problem.

Good way to do it, and I can't believe I'm reccomending this, is to just straight up cut carbs. Instead replace the carbs with lean meets and work you tail off. The other thing is to measure how much your taking in...use the suggested serving sizes and try to work off all or more than that number of calories. The last option is to do cross training...run one day(uphill is better), bike one day(uphill again), another day do something like weight lifting, aerobics, or swimming. These should help you lose weight.

just watch what you eat and run alot (125 calories a mile) and dont fall for the 0 carb diets.

I'm a physician -- I deal with this everyday. I don't suggest athletes going on low carb diets. A portion of one's weight problem is hormonal from excess stimulation of insulin from high carb diets. When one goes on a low carb diet, insulin levels drop. This results in both decreased production of fat but also decreased production of muscle. This is why someone can go on a low carb diet, eat the same amount of calories, and still lose weight. Sooner or later though, insulin levels plateau, and if the amount of calories consumed equals the amount of calories burned, no further weight is lost. However, muscle mass has been lost.
Most athletes don't want to lose muscle, especially lax players. What should be your goal is to lose weight while still maintaining some degree of insulin stimulation just enough to minimize lose of muscle mass. The best diets for this are portion control diets such as Weight Watchers, and a diet largely designed for athletes called the Zone Diet. I would suggest that diet. If you'd like further info about diet, exercise, and other health related matters, consider checking out my website (don't worry, I'm not selling anything. Good luck: http://www.drragno.com/
