hey if someone kicks the ball into the goal is it counted?
And i looked in the rules and it said that the golie could hold the ball! does that mean that he could run down field w/the ball in his hands and through it in?

Yes. Since you say you have the rules, you can look this up.

It says no such thing in the rules. The goalie may bat or deflect the ball with his hand only while in the crease and may not pick it up, even while in the crease.

1) Yes, a kicked ball counts as a goal.

2)
Goalkeeper Privileges
SECTION 19. Within his own goal-crease area, the designated goalkeeper
has the following privileges and protections:
a. The goalkeeper may stop or block the ball in any manner with his crosse
or body. The goalkeeper may block the ball or bat it away with his
hand, but he may not catch the ball with his hand. However, if the ball
is outside the crease, the goalkeeper may not touch it with his hand
even if he is within his crease.

A player can hit it into the goal with ANY part of his body EXCEPT his hand. One of our players "elbowed" it into the goal last season; another headed it in. Counts for one point, just like a diving, double twister, sidearm, underhand flip!!

No player may carry the ball in his hand, including the GK, as has been amply pointed out. I wonder where you heard or read this? Hopefully not from a coach.

I think this continues to show the real need to read the rules at LEAST once so that general knowledge items are commonly known and understood.

When driving to games, I have my son read the NFHS case scenarios out loud, and we discuss each one in detail. I learn by teaching him, and he learns by reading, listening, and discussing the cases. It is mutually beneficial. He is our crease defender and has really got a clue now as to what is legal. So far, he has just one penalty (a slash) in five games, down from six fouls in our first five games last year. It has helped our whole team by decreasing the man down goals against us. Might I suggest you buy one and do the same on the bus ride to your away games? You might even find it fun quizzing each other. Sounds weird, I know, but it is something to consider. It also gets you focused on the game you are about to play.

In the absence of that Utopian concept (everybody reading the rulebook), we're always here to help!

The only time I can remember that a GK can pick up the ball is at the ref's instruction, when the ball becomes stuck in the mud or in the outside of the net and he can't get it out with his stick.

Well, actually, the only time is during a dead ball, but any player can pick up the ball with his hand during a dead ball, GK or not. The officials should NOT insturct the GK to pick up the ball with his hands during any live ball.
