What do you guys think is more important in lacrosse, Quickness/Acceleration or Flat out speed. I would have to say quickness by far. Look at Mikey Powell, he is by no means "Fast" but is EXTREMELY quick and he is awesome.

I have to agree with you. I'd say I'm one of the slowest middies on my team in terms of "flat out speed", but, I am by far the best dodger because I'm extremely quick. Mikey is a perfect example of this. You must be quick to cut, dodge, shoot etc. which flat out speed has nothing to do with.

i concur. quickness is everything, on offense to make the cuts and such, on defense to recover.

Yeah, and if you think about it, how many times have you actually gotten the ball on your end, and driven all the way to the other side by yourself and scored. Very few. Most times you drive from the middle of the field or closer.

As the slow attackman I rely more on quick bursts for dodges than trying to use flat out speed that I don't have.

Speed is more useful for middies, but quickness rules the day for attaqckmen, goalies and even defensemen.

i dont know, i think a combonation of quickness and speed for middies. Middies need the quickness to cut, shoot, pass, dodge on offense. but they need the speed to hustle back on defnese. I have a combonation of both, and its working out pretty well right now. I dont know about coordination, i think attackmen need it more then middies, but i dont know..what do you guys think?

yea, it dosnt matter how fast u can run aslong as u are protecting ur stick....but quickness is what gets u past defenders and what u need to make a sweet cut

i would say quickness is better, along with all 19 people so far that have voted. But speed does have its advantages, no matter how fast you are you usualy wont be able to get by a good defender, unless your behind the net, thats where speed i think always gets me. im a defender and a persons speed dont meen anything in front of the net but once he is behind, if the person sprints to the other end of the field and makes a good pass, im screwed. Also speed is always good when someone is carying a ball. But yea, quickness is much much better.

i say speed, for me anyway. i am one of the fastest players, probably in the state, and if i take my man up top and just split him, you cant stop that

I would say quickness is more important, but speed also plays a big role in things. I'm one of those players that is really speedy but wishes he was quick, being quick is probably a lot more helpful...

sprred is good for midis in transition. i got a good work out in my last game; a lot of fast breaks both ways.

def quickness... the field isn't that long so u don't have that much time to reach ur full acceleration if ur too slow in speeding up

actually i did it 3 times yesterday and i scored them within 2 minutes. i think both of them are important though. i can run the 100 in 14.5 seconds and no one can catch me but when i get close in i am still very quick and can dodge most people but there are a few who are quicker than me and can get the ball from me.

I agree. I'm first line center middie for my team, and although quickness is very important on the defensive end to stay on your man, flat out speed is essential for successful fast breaks.
