Not that i am a goalie but i notice most goalie failures in lack of confidence or sheer rage. Like butters said he wasnt relaxed, you cannot get upset after you let in that first 1 goal, or even the 10th goal. Have confidence and stay focused. Also like said talk to your Defense.
But like i said, once i see a goalie getting pissed i know he is done. I will start taking shots i would not normally take just because i know he isnt focused and almost everything will go in.

I notice that in a lot of games, if they start to let in too many too quick, even if its two or three they just kinda get frustruate and are too tense and try to hard. Yeah Butters, I didnt see you break your shaft, that blows. Harrows are nice, I pretty much love mine, only because its orange and black, like my favorite teams Oregon and Verona... hah, not. But orange is my fav color. But yeah, Sam stood up and whipped some Lafollete butt. Only let in 5, I was proud of our fat goalie.

We got to work in the gym today which is nice, but our school mandates that we use the indoor balls if we are going to practice in there. They aren't bad but they're lighter so don't stick in as well. We have about 60 kids at each practices, but four coaches and its real nice to have somebody at each drill.
veronaD#02
03-02-2006, 10:24 PM
You guys should give tennis balls a try. Denver University spends a large portion of their practice using tennis balls because in addition to being softer/lighter than lacrosse balls, they are also larger in diameter. This size difference really helps hone your catching, cradling and groundball drills. And they're cheap...

Yeah Butters, thanks for the kind words. USM should breeze through Fondy tomorrow (knock on wood), and they deserve to get the "monkey off their back." This is the first WIAA hockey championship USM has made it to since the WISAA disbanded. My prediction USM 7 Fondy 2, Cole Homes w/ 3 goals and 2 assists. After that 6-3 dismantling of SPASH and beating fondy twice in conference, USM ishould be in command...

I'll be at the Notre Dame vs Cornell game down in Illinois. I thought I saw you on Thursday with the USM Lacrosse jacket on, but I couldn't tell as I spotted myself way in the back row. And yeah you guys should breeze past Fondy, we played them this year and regardless of the score competed very well with them. Just wondering if any schools have lacrosse as a school sport?
Because here at waunakee we are a club sport and have to pay for evrything, none of the schools will let use practise on there fields. So we get stuck at a pice of poo field that floods when it rains. But i do have to say that one game aginst verona was one of the funest games i have ever played.
Butters14
03-05-2006, 09:46 AM
From what I've heard Wausau is a full school sport, and recieves funding. With the exception of them I don't believe any schol is a full school sport that recieves funding, mostly because of Title IX. Verona is a club sport, we pay for everything still, but we're allowed to use the football field for games, and the football practice fields for practice. Most schools just have no interest in this point at having another sport in their program, but eventually it will come. From what I've heard at the last WIAA meeting lacrosse was mentioned and generally it's accepted that it will be the next big thing. So once girls lacrosse, or field hockey, get big enough I believe lacrosse will become WIAA sanctioned. This is probably 10 years down the road though.
AHSlax21
03-05-2006, 09:52 AM
AHS is giving us nothing. No funds, no field space, no practice space. We are lucky enough to have some elementry schools let us use their gyms and fields for practice, and after April 15th we are allowed to use our game field, which someone donated the cost of it to us. So basiclly

hmm, my brain was throbbing so i knew someone spoke of me on TLF. yes from what i understand wausau is a combined team with wausau west and wausau east. the superintendent made sure that the school would accept them as a sport and magically it has been done. they use the school fields as well as from what i found out do get at least a little of financial backing from the district. They have been a official team now for going on the second year but they were club up there playing with superior and MN teams for about 4 years now (just starting up after the madison leagues). i guess they have a big east coast guy running the stuff up there and everyone likes the direction they are headed.

Butters, one question?
I think in indoor that you lost all three of the games? And then Sam played and got you into the ship.
Jk... just messin, but thats bull that we lost to Lafollette, we fell apart at the end on D.

Yes, well I believe it takes someone putting in goals to win games as well. Although I did ruin the game vs Oregon. We were going to win that game until I snapped my harrow on that kids back, I had my head on a stick without a screw after that so I wasn't able to throw. But hey, the coolness of breaking a stick over someone far outweighs a victory over whoregon.

Agreed.
But yeah, how many players are you guys running of JV and Varsity.
Stoughton is pretty close to running 20 and 20.

Butters14

We're planning on having JV, whether numbers allow us to or not is up in the air yet. I think we have 40 guys... but not entirely sure.

He wishes he was robitshek....that's robertson. The big giveaway is the "iowa city" location (he goes to iowa bc madison and the U have placed bunnies on their endangered lists, and introducing their number 1 predator, Lenny, to the area could be devestating).

^ heh... but yeah. This weather really blows, its gonna kill our JV team, because alot of them have yet to have game play. Hopefully this crap clears up soon and the weather gets alot nicer and warmer.
But I think Stoughton might actually throw down with a decent varsity team. Watch out guy... lol... im funny. But really, I think we have some potential.

Tell me about it. I was so dissapointed when I first heard the weather forcast for today. Luckily we only got around two inches of snow (much less then the predicted 4-8). I'm ready to get out of the gym and the muddy extra field, onto something actually usable.

Agreed, we were outside yesterday because it was the only time we would be able to for a lil bit cause of the snow, I just want it gone.

I'd kill for a muddy outdoor field! We've been practicing on a basketball court since January.

They didn't play too poorly actually. North Dakota had two goals that Elliott should have saved, other than that though they played fine. Beating Minnesota 4-0 gave them the #1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament too. I'd say they played well.

03-19-2006, 02:48 PM
Damn, I'm glad to hear that. The only news I had was of the ND loss.
Butters14
03-19-2006, 03:00 PM
Yeah, they seemed a bit uninspired. They were guaranteed a #1 seed in the tourney, and essentially guaranteed to get the Green Bay regional. Although with them and Minnesota both losing, there was the #1 overall seed to play for... St Cloud versus Minnesota game was amazing, 15 goals in one game, 8-7 St Cloud won. Unfortunately they lost to North Dakota so WCHA didn't get that 5th team in.

I've heard at there are only 13 players, and that they are trying to get their schedule cut in half for the upcoming season. It's currently up in the air what is going to happen. I hope they stay in the league, they've been in it since the beginning with us and it would be a shame since we all want lacrosse to grow in the state not decrease.

03-20-2006, 08:41 PM
We got like 60 kids playing for arrowhead. It's crazy, It sucks that USM is looking for players.
But having teams drop out is the last thing we need.
