For everyone who started out in middle school and then transitioned to the highschool game, what should i do to prepare for the transition and what is it like? right now im in eigth grade, play attack, am the team captain and consider myself one of the better middle schoolers in our league(i live in Indiana, so competition isnt as high as in a place like MD), so if everyone out there who made the transition could help me out and give me some tips on making an impact next year in hs that would be great, thanks

hey bro, i think i can giv ya some good advice, cause i was pretty much in the same boat last year and also play in indiana. the biggest difference between the two are size. if you want to put yourself in a good situation for next year, start lifting. gain some muscle mass because you will be taking harder hits. one thing i focused on was my legs, doing various exercises to improve speed. im not a huge guy at 5 ft 6 125...bu with speed and stick skills ive been beating defensemanwho hav 50+ pounds more than me to work with (and pretty athletic guys to)..pretty much, dont be nervous about the transtition, work on strength but dont forget to keep imprving stick skills

I disagree with focusing on gaining muscles. I mean sure, buffing up is always good, but that shouldn't be your main focus. Hit the wall two hours or more a day over the summer, and work on your speed, agility and endurance like crazy. Look at Mikey Powell. He was 4'11" and like, 110 pounds his freshman year, and he played Varsity, and owned it up.

baschki, i got what your sayin bro, but the reason i was sayin put on sopme muscle was because of the state hes playin in. in new york where powell played, the game has been around for a long time, its more finesse on the east coast. here in indiana for the most part, defenders are pretty much football players looking to hit people in the off season. for that reason, bulking up is smart if your gonna be a freshman on varsity..and i thought i did include improving speed, but maybe i should reread my post
