It seems like every game we play there is not much settling. It seems like we are always passing then shooting, or just taking it all the way. Is this happening with anybody elses team?

Understand that everything I am about to say really comes back to one of 2 things, coaching or personal responsibility.
1. The reason that some don't like to settle or run "yellow" or whatever you want to call it, is that they can't read a defense for a damn. They can't anticipate what the D will do or understand the set offense and the D's reaction, so to eliminate that problem they just take it to the goal themselves figuring the read in front of them is the only read they have to make.
2. No discipline in the offensive coaching or gameplan. I watched a game today where a player on 2 straight possessions just ignored everything, face dodged his defender and took it to the cage and got killed by collapsing and sliding D men, passing up chances to control the tempo and in one instance hit a wide open teammate at the top of the crease for an easy quick stick goal. That player came off the field to a butt chewing and didn't see the field for almost a quarter after that. If those kinds of things are happening alot and the coaching staff isn't taking care of it aggressively, you are screwed.
3. Selfish players. Its a trend that is on the rise. It amazes me to hear players, coaches, and broadcasters on TV comment "he's an unselfish player" or "thats a unselfish move" when in reality, its not that he is being extraordinarily unselfish, he's playing the game intelligently and correctly. Too often I see selfish players in this sport who go unchecked by coaches or teammates. This is a team sport and all it takes is one or 2 hot dogs or selfish morons to completely ruin an offense. Ryan Boyle is 10 times the player that someone like Joe Walters is, because Boyle could finish, but he could feed the ball like few have ever done it but Walters and players like him will always get more press because they are the ones that end up getting the goals (nevermind the fact that if they didn't have great setup men, they would be screwed).
4. Confidence in teammates. Often players will not trust their teammates skills or abilities and decide to follow the motto "if you want it done right, do it yourself". Sometimes its a justified reaction and sometimes its because the coaching staff hasn't built a true team.

i always settle unless i no i have a good chance at going for the goal, settling allows ur middies to get a little break and slows things down a bit, then u can get into the offence and run a play, work for a shot and hpfully core, if not then ur middies wont b as tierd on the clear cauese they got a small break when u settle

do u win most of ur games? cuz if so... who cares
if it causes u to score, leave it the way it is... only settle if u are screwing up big time
we are a pretty good team, we settle the ball all the time just to get everyone in position and work the ball a couple times
