Im in 8th grade and just wondering what your opinions on take out checks are. most of mine occur 5 yards or closer to the ball (regulation contact) and are two steps. Just wanting to know what you guys think.

Buffalo Bandits fans say it best:

"Hit em again! Hit em again! HARDER! HARDER!"
"Don't be shy, HIT THAT GUY! No one left? HIT THE REF!"

If you can line a guy up and take him out, that's a big part of being a good defender. Keep hitting, but be careful not to sacrifice good position.

A couple solid hits early in the game are sweet because it leads to the attacker being nervous about going iso against you later in the game. If he loses his nerve under pressure, that can lead to a bad pass.

get low when you hit and your gonna be fine as long as u dont stand flat foot and wait for them to come to you chances are if u do that you will probably end up on the ground which is pretty embarrasing for a defensemen

Yea you prity much said it. dont go and whale someone just if you have the chance, make sure you wont give up position. And also to add, if you do get some solid hits early in the game not only does the attackman get scared but it sets a mood for the whole game. It will be much more physical, and much more violent. Leading to more penalties. So if your team could all just lay people out at the beggining, and then play it safe throughout the game, they wlil cause many penalties in your favor.

I for one love hitting people. you just have to be careful cause if you hit someone who is alot bigger than you, you will be sent on a trip. Hah, i remember thsi onetiem the game was coming to an end and we were winning by a lot. So when i went to go scoop up the ball i realized that some kid was coming in at me full speed, he didnt look like much, but he hit me soo hard i literaly didnt know what day it was. And thats not just a bad joke.
