I have a tip. Don't do it. It's less accurate and mor predictable for the goalie. Worry about getting ur overhand shot.

see thats the thing...underhand shot is faster, and a teammate of mine is very accurate with it and my lax coach is a goalie and says he hates when kids underhand cause its harder to see...
so basically everything u said is opposite of why i want it, so again i asked any tips to help me develop a underhand shot

Does your stick have alot of whip and hold? b/c you deffinatly need alot of hold and a fair amount of whip to get the ball under like that. Then you just need to shoot alot like sidearm just drop it even more, and accuracy can be worked on simply by practice.

Start at side arm shot, and keep lowering it..I have soft mesh so its damn near impossible, but on my back-up stick with 5 d mesh its easier... Practice is a must though...and try to mix it up... A lot of people who shoot underhand always shoot low, so sometimes go stickside high , or off-stick side high just to mess with the goalie

Final cut is right. Start with a very minimally powerful shot sidearm, and keep lowering it. Just like when you learned to cradle underhand (which you have to be able to do to be effective). As a coach, I have 2 kids with good underhand shots. 1 is very effective, 1 needs the right situation. Underhand shots are very effective if shot through traffic, or when the goalie has a tendency to drop low. Putting the shot low to high takes some work, but is worth while. My less effective shooter drops his entire upper body, and shoots from his ankles, but he can put it top shelf. Obviously this can't happen on the run, and it's obvious he's shooting underhand. My more effective player reaches back the same way he does sidearm, takes a half cradle underhand, and rips the shot. The goalie can't see the stick, and doesn't know if the shot will be overhand, sidearm or underhand. That is the way to do it. I saw a guy a few weeks ago that was good enough to shoot an underhand shot (from his knee) on the run, 90 mph, top shelf. One of the single best shots I've ever seen, and he didn't even fall over.

im a goalie and i think it is easier to stop an underhand than any other shot so my advice dont even try for it just go adn get your acccuracy and speed up on your overhand that will be more effective than anything

just hold your hnads about 5inches apart form the bottom of your shaft, bring it back and just fire it then start to practice accuracy

OK, lets say he already has the OH shot mastered and is looking to expand his skill set. Is it alright with you guys, then?
90% of the time, OH is the way to go, but no shot is a dumb shot if it's used at the right time.
The underhand can be hidden well....all it has to be is a quick snap from a low cradle. If you do it through traffic (around a defender, through the d-man's legs, etc.), the goalie might not see it coming until it's too late.

what he said,
as a coach if you demonstrate to me that you can make a particular shot, and that you know when to use it, i'll green light your using it in a game, if you dont demonstrate both of those things abd use it. well pine boy, lets say that your experience will be a little different

i usually just drop the head and let it rip.....not saying i always have good accuracy. so just make sure you've mastered your overhand before you expand to more difficult shots
