At my game yesterday I went down for the opening faceoff, but the ref called as back up and told me that my left foot had to be inside my stick. This really messed me up becuase I am used to facing off with a wider base. This has never been called on me before and I was wondering what the offical rule on this is. Can anyone shed light on this for me?

He is incorrect. So long as your whole body is to the LEFT of the throat of your crosse, and your feet are on your side of the center line and your hands are on your crosse and touching the ground (and a few other things are needed), you're legal. You can lean your head and body over the line if you like, just do NOT go to the right of the throat of your own crosse. You can brace your arms against your legs, lie down on the field, or whatever, just don't go to the RIGHT of the throat. The ref and YOU BOTH should read NFHS 4-3.4 so you understand this rule. But you can legally be to the left of the butt end of your crosse. He simply messed up.

Thanks coach thats what I thought and I told the ref that I thought you just needed to be to left and not have any part of you to the right of the throat but he just said no thats wrong.
