Just practice. If its shooting on the run you can't do, get a buddy and a net and do fast vreak situations. If it's going 1v1 on the goalie you can't do make sure you throw your fakes in there and do the same thing, fast breaks, but if you can have a goalie get in the goal.

ya im getting a net and its just 1 on 1 with goalie i cant do i can throw nice fakes too just i duno what happens when i get in close i just cant do it :(
try being deceptive, make it look like your going to shoot top corner and put it low or try low bouncers under the tenders glove, also dont just fake and hope what you do works, fake him out so he moves alot and if he is a goalie who dosent move just pick a corner.....

also when shooting in close fake high and shoot low bacause if you aim for th middle of the net you will hit it unless your stick is really messed but fake high and shoot low bacause when the goalie goes up to stop the top shelf shots he stick comes up with him and his momnetiom goign up can not be stoped and broght down b 4 you get the shot off so it works and you shouldent miss unless(like i said) your stick is messed if so seek stick tech for help

I wouldnt concentrate on this too much. As a goalie I see too many times when im on a one on one and either
1. the shooter fakes and doesnt have time to shoot so he gets destroyed mid fake by my crease D.
2. The shooter fakes and in mid fake i come out and stuff him
Seriously, when you get that close in a game the defense will be one step behind you, so you need to get the shot off quick. Remember to look at the net where you want to shoot, not at the goalie or the post. ie: look "past" the goal. Accuracy > power when your close up

I agree with WestSide. Get the shot off quickly. If your accuracy isn't great, dump a bounce shot at his feet. The more time you screw around on the crease, the greater your opportunity for missing an easy crease goal. On a side note, get used to taking the hit. If the D is sliding you can almost be sure you'll take a hit, late or not.

Dip and dunk, but it has to be fluid, watch the pro's, one on one with a little time they use it 90%. fake down and when you stop the fake go right into the shot, don't pull it back to yur shoulder then shoot, you'll get stuffed. It has to be all in one motion.

Just look at a small target off stick hip side of the goalie. When you're 1 on 1 with a goalie, it's hard not to stare at him/her and shoot it right at them. you have to pick a target... look at the net, not the goalie.. you'll be surprised how much white stuff you see. There's a lot of open goal behind that goalie..
most of the time you won't even have to fake the goalie. just pick a spot and hit it.
Another good spot to go is between the legs, when you're 1 on 1 in tight, it takes a lot for a goalie to get down to make that low save.
forgot it was box... maybe between the legs if it's field lax..

WestsideLaxer, can I ask you a question?
When a guy is coming in one on one (and assuming you don't stuff him), what indicators do you look for to decide where his going to shoot? Do you look at his stick or where he is looking? What about his stick indicates to you where he is going to go?
I always get worried that I zone in to where I am going to shoot that the goalie reads me like a book. As a goalie, what are you looking for/at?

Useually the Goalie Has played an angle on you which takes certain shots away, which means you have to make the goalie move in your Favour. If the Goalie has a Big Wood stick he will be a little slow trying to move his stick around. If the Goalie has a normal goal stick hes pobably good with his stick so you have to beat him up high. But try this, try coming on an angle (stick facing the inside) you can eaither go far side by doing (my favorite) a dive through the Crease. or you can fake inside one way and bounce it on the inside of his leg, No matter what Goalie he is a Goalie can't controll How the Ball rolls of his legs. Go mid shin or lower when you try it. But if all else fails Go for a bounce shot 2 inchs from the inside of his foot.
I'm a goalie and those are really the only ones that beat me on a breakaway

A good goalie allways looks at the ball (read as the head of the stick). A good box goalie does not determine where the ball is going to go ahead of time, this is a sure way to get faked. The goalie will try to stay saquare to the ball and offer equal space on either side of the net (read this as playing the angle and staying centered) and react if necessary once the ball is loose. If you are really close he has less time to react and believe it or not most of the time the goalie stays put and the shooter hits him square in the chest. If you can get good at commiting to one action (i.e. shooting at an open space) and then reacting to the goalies reaction (if any) you will do fine. Too many shooters rely on the fake itself to do the work. They get excited because it is a fast break and they do a little dance thinking they need to do 15 fakes in a row and they fake themselves out (they don't know where they are going to shoot anymore than the goalie does). Commit to an open space and have one fall back position to shoot to if the goalie moves, thats all you need.
I disagree with the statement that the low shot is the easiest to score on goalies. You need to watch the goalie and determine his skill set. Some are weak low because they tend to stay high (these you should shoot the low shot but try to make it a bounce shot aimed to the side of his feet or a side arm shot, the low ground slider is easy to stop with a stick if you play your angles well). Some are very strong against the low shot (I'm in this group) because they have a tendency to fall into a low guard like a butterfly and trap the ball with their upper body or deflect with their legs (against this goalie it is good to fake low and dump over their shoulder or burn one straight to a corner).
Since all goalies play the angle a good way to open up a shot is to execute a good slide across the crease. This forces a goalie to move to maintain the angle coverage. While moving in one direction the goalie has a harder time changing direction back the other way and will be slightly off in his angle coverage while in motion. You have to commit to the slide though and only reverse your shot if the goalie moves. If the goalie doesn't move just finish the shot (aim low to hip on this one).

As a goalie, I was taught to watch the ball, not the stick, so you don't get caught by fakes. I take up as much space as possible, get up close to the shooter, and match my stick with his. A good way to get around a goalie on 1v1s is to do what WHEELAX said, don't look at the goalie and get distracted, look for the area he's leaving open, and just stick it there. But don't make it obvious that you're gonna shoot there, i.e. if his stick is up high, put your stick high and shoot down, bounce it under his stick/body.

Some weaker box goalies bite badly at high fakes. (I know a few where all I have to do is a tiny headfake....c0ck the head to the high corner on the stick side and they'll lift). If you've got one of these goalies, you can fill the net through the five-hole.
The guys playing with woodsticks lift less often, and I think it's partly because the stick is a lot heavier
One thing that's worked well for me lately is when I'm carrying the ball and heading towards the net is to pick my target, turn my head towards my wingman as if I'm going to pass, and then just snap off a quick shot instead. It's really just a headfake, but the wingman does a few things to help sell the fake.
Because the goalie has to watch for a possible pass, he can't cheat as much to take away your shooting angle. Also, the fact that you have a passing option delays his reaction for a split second, which is often enough to make the difference.
Don't even worry about firing blind - because you already picked the spot, the shot will usually go about where you want.
Give it a try.

i think the best shot to beat a goalie is a bounce shot to the glove side,it works most of the time on stand up and bigitup goalies but on reation goalies you have to shot for the corners or just inside the post

I love the crease dive. And roughly 80% of the time it works( that is if the proper take off, or fake works in your favour). In close a dip and dunk, or alternate left to right in a combo. ex. fake top left go low right.

Where I play the only nets we have are a good two or three inches smaller then requlation nets. When we play in the city the tiny spots we've been shooting on become huge gaping holes that can easily be picked out. Maybe you should just start shooting in a smaller net.

also remember that barely moving your stick is a fake.... goalies will move even with very small movements of your stick/ even moving your head one direction can get a goalie moving....... huge fakes are def not needed... get the goalie to move and look at the open net behind him

If you are coming in one-on-one (breakaway) then slow down, just for a split seciond in fornt of the net to get some time and thorw 2-3 litle fakes. Get the goalie moving out of his comfort zone, then when the openeing arises fire it in. Works for me.

Go low far side, works every time. Or look one way and then shoot the opposite way you are looking.

Box is tough--definitely. MOst of my goals came from faking once and picking a corner, but I could not do that right off the bat. I'd get a net, and practice fakes and location as much as you can. This way, you won't get excited when you get offensive opportunities, and you'll make more out of each opportunity you get.

in box the goalies weakest spots are the hips as u cant move them from side to side as well, and do what laxpimp said he used that move in a shoot out and won the game for his team, except he just stood infront of the crease and jumped up and down and threw mad fakes and after about 3 minutes of that he shot and the goalie had pretty much given up.

what i find works for me but i am a fairly big guy is when i am in close to the net i like to give a quick low fake and reach up and put it overtop of the goalie
