Our GK tossed the ball to midfield, where our attacker scooped it up. He ran right at their goal, around one defensive player's slap check, shot and scored. Does the GK get credited with an assist?
The NCAA rules say an assist is only good if the direct pass leads to a shot, and the player who scores does not have to evade anybody other than the GK in the crease.

If the Attackman caught it, then yes, but he did not so no.

Well if he cought it off of a bounce or didnt have to fight for the GB then the GK clearly passed it to him and it should count as an asist IMO

Not if he has to evade someone's check, which he did.

I believe this is the key point

What about a pass off the defenders helmet. Ball made a significant direction change and in the goal.

So the ball goes off the defenders helmet and in to the goal? Since it wasn't a shot I think this counts as a team goal, and I believe that the inhome gets it for stats purposes. But I'm not a statisician so I'm not 100% sure.

I've seen this happen before, but I am no ref. The person that threw the pass was credited with the goal, and it was called unassisted no matter where the "shooter" got it from.
